OpenAI is putting its artificial intelligence engine to work in a challenge to Google's market-dominating search engine. The startup behind ChatGPT announced that it is testing a "SearchGPT" prototype that is "designed to combine the strength of our AI models with information from the web" to answer online queries quickly and to provide relevant sources. perplexity is not good for research at all, it gives all wrong numbers. Even bard is not that great. So its only good for casual searches and nothing you can use for academic or office related work.

I think no one will be able to replace Google Search because experience matters. Google has deep-level search insights and vast amounts of data from every corner of the world. Even with advanced AI models, it would take decades for anyone to match that. User acceptance, shaped by habits and mindset, is also crucial.

interesting, but we are also seeing google search engine accuracy declining there are videos about it on youtube, so if google wont stick to what consumers want, they are gonna be replaced slowly but surely, not sure if that will be good or bad thing however competition is welcome

If I have to bet, I will bet on Google. Microsoft infuse new Bing with AI and make some progress and attracted many users. If OpenAI have to dominate the search market, they will be another decade of fight to take market share. Many people pay Google or Bing with their personal data. If OpenAI have to gain a large market share if they product succeed they have to infused their new search with ads However the next decade will be interesting to watch in that sector.

OpenAI can't make profit due to far more energy and processing requirements than google search engine, it could work if people pay for AI search feature, but in a global scale, it's just not possible to run for free.
