It's really interesting, so in 2009 there was a gas pipeline agreement between Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Europe. Then in 2010 Iran decided to create another line from Iran, Iraq, Syria and through the sea to Europe. Asad agreed to the Iranian offer. And interestingly there was a huge protest that started the following year and turned into a civil war 😅 Just saying.
