In the Indian state of Assam, widespread flooding triggered by monsoon rain has claimed the lives of at least 38 people so far. Not only humans but animals living in the Kaziranga National Park have also been displaced. Several animals were spotted taking shelter on the highlands adjoining the park. Local authorities have called in additional battalions to secure the inundated park. Till Wednesday morning, 178 of the 233 forest camps located inside the park, which is home to the world’s largest population of the endangered one-horned rhinos are under at least 5 feet of water.
