I'm Argentinian and some of this information is incomplete. Poverty was through the roof during the previous administration, but the way in which the numbers were taken made it look like it was less. For example, anyone on wellfare was counted as "employed", and anyone receibing gobernment aid counted that against their income so as not to be "poor". One of the first things Milei did after being sworn in was making those numbers more honest. And very recent numbers indicate poverty is already lower than what it was during the previous administration, even when measuring it way more harshly. And this was done in less than a year. Without handouts, or subsidies, or price controls on food, services, or utilities... And without the political backing needed to instate the further reforms he wants. The people SEE this. I, for one, think there's little to no possibility that he doesn't win in the midterms by a landslide

This guy has done so much with just 7 senators of his own and the entire political system against him. Poverty was in fact 50 percent when he enter the government, it was simply not reported correctly by the previous administration that forced prices to stay low at the cost of destroying industries and pushing the imminent hyperinflation Milei managed to destroy just in time. The cost was dearly but there was nothing else to do. Argentina was heading for the abyss and the only thing that could stop us was to grow wings and learn to fly... amazingly this is happening and prices are going down finally (slowly but steadily) and also is poverty. If he would have been helped by the political system he could have achieve this in less than 6 months, but he also exposed all the corrupt polititians that will surely end up leaving parlament on 2025 elections. The "defense" budget is out of control and the rich don't need tax cuts.
@baronbrummbar86912 күн бұрын
@@katrinagarrett9612 well the rich pay most of the taxes so if ther are tax cuts they will get a bigger chunck also the us has way higher taxes on the rich then other countrys in comparison .. like lets look at germany 15% coperation tax (the us has 21% after super tax cuts by trump (is used to be 35%) 25% capital gains tax (same as in the US) .... germany gets it money from 3 sources 1. sales tax (19%) .... in the us depending on staat 0 2. income tax (caps out at 42% and you already pay double digits on minimum wage) .... the US caps at 39% while half the country pays 0% (in both nations only employees pay it) 3. a flat defacto income social tax of 20% (which caps out at high wages and doesn´t tax capital gains) ...
@d.romero30142 күн бұрын
The same was said here in Argentina. You can't cut social assistance (but it can be rationalized). You can't audit universities (but you can). You can't cut discretionary remittances to the provinces (they were reduced by 98%). You can't lower taxes (next year 90% will be removed). And health was not touched, and the defense budget was increased (well, the latter was not very difficult because it was minuscule).

I live in Argentina, the inflation has been going down since Milei took office a year ago. The situation is not perfect but it's definetely a huge improvement.

Recessions are an unavoidable part of the economic cycle; all you can do is prepare for them and plan accordingly. I graduated into a slump (2009). My first job after graduating from college was as an aerial acrobat on cruise ships. Today, I work as a VP for a global corporation, own three rental properties, invest in stocks and businesses, run my own company, and have increased my net worth by $500k in the last four years.

Choose quality stocks and follow them up. If you're not one for such complexities, work with an Advisor to grow your portfolio. You can't go wrong with a sound CFA.

You're right, I and a few Neighbors in Bel Air Area work with an advisor who prefers we Dollar cost averaging across other prospective sectors instead of a lump sum purchase. Following this, my portfolio grew by more than 40% in the 2nd quarter.

I'm intrigued by this. I've searched for portfolio managers online but it's kind of hard to get in touch with one. Okay if I ask you for a suggestion?

People can not expect the government to come fill in for where church and family need to fill in, if we convince ourselves the government can play daddy or care taker where does that logic end? Whynot justify it to do other things as well? And then you end up right back in the situation you originally were trying to escape from with economics that Meili is offering, it’s a very sad constant cycle

4:00 poverty didnt rise, the index was rigged. The previous government had a program called "precios cuidados" (protected prices) that had some basic goods like rice on a fixed price and that stock was cleared out really quickly so very few people got them at that price. Once milei got rid of Protected Prices, we started measuring the purchase power with the prices people had always been paying for. I love milei's plan and his execution, but we are far from ok, there's still a lot to be done
@Javier770402 күн бұрын
Milei was so successful that make it down extreme poverty from 20,2 % to 8,6% and the poverty rate go down from 54,8 % to 38,9 %. Also get a GDP grown of 4.9 % in just one trimester, leaving recession behind at half year, with surplus whole year. And this only in one year of being president, if things keep going like this Argentina will be growing 17% annually as minimum 🇦🇷

The economy is about distribution of goods and consumption. Altough related, the inflation is other concern. Reducing inflation is a good sign but, does not necesarily mean the economy has improved ... Poverty rates, growth, unemployment, debt, finances, housing, food access, healt care, ... etc. 1 year is not enough to see real results, and I hope Milei could do more and not brag yet.
@Javier770402 күн бұрын
I can address all that you say because latest data was released, inflation is 2.4 but the inflation of government induced is 2 monthly so real number are around 0.4 or less, poverty rates? Sure, poverty rate go down from 54 to 38 %, growth? Last trimester up to 4.9 of GDP grown, unemployment also go down, sorry i dont have the exact data but go down for sure, debts? Argentina country debts was reduced on 20 billions, now Argentina is less indebted, finances? Sure, Argentina market is hitting historic highs, Argentina market sector rise almost 300% since Milei, Argentine companies pass from value of 14 dollars to now 70 dollars values, rates of investment are on the numbers of 30% profit since Milei arrive, housing? Milei first action was take down laws of housing prices control and the whole sector recovery and prices of houses go down 40% and also the market get a lot of new offers which make more properties was available, food access? Sure, food was the main price to go down, meat was almost impossible to afford and now is the most cheap you can buy, even is more cheap than chicken and pork which is really unusual here, also inflation of food is the lower of all inflation rates, now with only 5 dollars you can buy a Christmas buy with many products, so poor can afford a good Christmas, also now the Christmas buys are exploding People is buying a lot and business are packed of people consuming. Health care? Yes, Milei relaase a law for health care system, which consists on foreign countries people who use our health system start to pay for services, not huge payments but a part and you know what? Hospitals are now more free and people can get health care services more fast and better treatment, also medicine is now more available. Foreigners who use our health care system from nearby countries pay and hospitals now have better cashflow. And yes all this was do it in just one year of Milei government and it's a part of many more things. Only one year

@@Javier77040 Argentina Inflation is 120% this year! not 2.4 % Poverty Rates went from 29 % in 2022 to 42% in 2024 first half, that is so bad for Argentina. Argentina GDP is going -3.9 % this year (negative growth) Bad! Only 1 quarter is better. See Statista and world bank websites, BBviscaya bank. But, Don't come with fake #. You wrote too much also.
