El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele has been sworn in for the second time. His oath-taking ceremony was held amid security concerns as police said they thwarted a plot to detonate explosives at different locations across the country. The 42-year-old former night club manager was reelected in February with 85 percent of the vote. He is a self-proclaimed "cool dictator" who enjoys high approval ratings due to his heavy-handed crackdown on criminal gangs since he first came to power in 2019. Now, many hope he will find a cure for El Salvador's crisis-hit economy, as the nation grapples with soaring poverty, food inflation, and public debt.
