DEI never was true in tech companies at least. Engineers have the final say on whether someone is hired or not. We're very stressed and don't want additional burden for us. We want someone who can help reduce our workload. White people just use DEI as an excuse to explain how a person of color is more successful than them. the recent MAGA civil war on h1b visas is the best example of this. foreign engineers have better work ethic and is the reason they are hired more than americans. The automated models that are supposed to handle this, and the policy that handles censorship cannot pander to each individual edge-case (because it will set a precedent and more and more edge cases will be added, making its maintainability impossible). These algorithms and policies are generalised and usually have a small amount of configurability, that controls the degree of severity of posts that's allowed. If you increase the threshold of censorship (only seriously egregious posts, the likes of terrorism), it goes up for *ALL* kinds of speech, not just one. Not only that; put simply, as unfortunate as this is, Zuck put up a valid point in the podcast, "If it can be discussed in the parliament (white house), why can't it be discussed on our platform". Be it good or bad, such opinions have garnered mainstream attention and as a platform, it's their duty now to let people flow their thoughts freely.
