Sean's refreshing. Celebrities go to interviews all the time, and they're asked the same, inane or insipid questions over and over. @@ninkiminjaj Wilco under the stars at Mass MoCA, singing “California Stars” with Sarah Guthrie, Woody’s granddaughter. Ok GO in a college gymnasium, with a mid-concert, mid-audience acoustic set in-the-round. The Format, supporting the album “Dog Problems” and featuring a horn section. And of course, Brian Setzer Orchestra and 10,000 Maniacs (minus Natalie Merchant) in City Hall Plaza in Boston, because it’s the only concert (other than maybe Raffi) that I’ve been to with my dad. You ever watch early Letterman episodes? It's apparently quite the experience to have a truly excellent interview, and people respond to that. Letterman became an edifice unto himself, which might have been unavoidable in the TV days, but this show has seemingly done everything possible to maintain that laser focus on the perfect interview. It seems to be working!

Not only does Sean do great research and ask great questions, he also has deep, deep knowledge of the sauces. Lenny hit him with "Where is this one from?" and Sean was right there with "Vermont." I love artists who are obviously deeply interested in other artists and their craft. When you hear Lenny talk about Herman Leonard, you can tell that he could spend the entire interview just talking about his love for that man's photography. The reason's Lenny listed for why he has hope for young musicians, are why he's so iconic himself; he has a love for the craft and appreciation for the lineage of artists who came before him.

I met Lenny Kravitz and his mother a long time ago at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. I was around 25 or 27 but he was at least 20 or younger, he looked at me and asked something related to whether dating someone of mixed race was an issue. Little did he know, my grandmother of listed as mulatto in the census for North Carolina. I didn't even know that, but grew up in her household. He was very nice and his mother was so graceful.

I loved Lenny Kravitz's mother, and his (ex) wife, and his daughter, so this is a great experience! Also, I had the blessing of singing with him (as part of a group) at the *2012 Kennedy Center Honors for the Led Zeppelin* tribute. When you do a lot of professional singing events, you get to know just how unpleasant *some* celebrities can be (looking at you, Kid Rock and Janelle Monae 🤨). *Lenny was Super Sweet to us!!!* Of all the people I've had the opportunity to sing with/around, Lenny Kravitz and Anna Kendrick are still my favorites. 🥰🤗

He's a surprisingly small man, but he has a kind of otherworldliness that I find strangely intimidating.
