🇷🇸 KRALJEVO & ŽIČA, SERBIA (Краљево & Жича) - Part 11 of my 2022 Serbia Travel series comes from the Central Serbian city of Kraljevo! This may not be on your list of places to visit in Serbia or the Balkans, BUT it’s home to Manastir Žiča (Žiča Monastery), the CORONATION site of 7 past Serbian kings! It just went top tier, right? Kraljevo is of course home to food, history, architecture, spomeniks (monuments or memorials) and churches, but visiting Žiča is just a short 5km away and a MUST visit!

The area of Central and Western Serbia is FULL of iconic destinations - Užice, Čačak, Požega, Bajina Bašta, Zlatibor, and more! There’s much more to Serbia than Belgrade and Novi Sad!
This is my 5th visit to Serbia (I was first here in 2019). Two of my trips were heavily impacted by the pandemic, but in 2021 I managed to explore quite extensively, visiting outstanding locations such as Kruševac, Subotica, and Kragujevac!

🇬🇧 I hope you enjoyed Kraljevo and Žiča! But that's not all! There's a 4K Walkaround from Sunday morning in Kraljevo up next. As touched on in this video I was planning to go to Maglič but after losing phone (wouldn't be able to find drone properly) and the fact there was renovation, I thought I'd leave it for another time. ŽIČA WAS TOP-TIER! 🇷🇸 Nadam se da ste uživali u Kraljevu i Žiči! Ali to nije sve! Sledeće je 4K šetnja od nedelje ujutru u Kraljevu. Kao što je pomenuto u ovom videu, planirao sam da odem u Maglič, ali nakon što sam izgubio telefon (ne bih mogao da pronađem dron kako treba) i činjenice da je renoviranje, mislio sam da to ostavim za neki drugi put. ŽIČA JE BIO VRHUNSKI!

Very glad to see you in my city! And 7 entrances are in fact because of the 7 king, after each coronation a new entrance was created, and also, fun fact, Kraljevo's coat of arms contains 7 crowns, and words of the city are: Good for us, bad to no one. Cheers!

@@zakuta89 I've always been fascinated with Serbia. I think being between east and west,historically has made the genetics there tough,strong,and vigilant, especially about old traditional customs. Look at even American basketball. Some of the top players are Serbs. A relatively small country,yet produces international sports superstars consistently. Amazing! I don't like to stereotype but they all seem more educated than American athletes. Serbs are loved in the USA despite propaganda from Clinton era. I've never heard an American speak badly of Serbs before. Just my experience.

One interesting fact about Kraljevo, the monumet you saw in the centre of the city is actually one of the biggest sun clocks in the Europe! Tip of the spear casts a shadow that shows time on sunny days, thats why you see those lines and numbers around the centre. Nice video hope you enjoyed your time in Kraljevo!

Žiča is unfortunately not in its full glory at the moment, as it is in the process of restoration and conservation of the facade and some other details. The facade had beautiful red color and it should be restored soon.

And a top tier Serbian episode on your part! Maybe the fireworks were, in part, for you. The blue-domed structure did stand out, with the Holy Spirit - the dove - at the top when you might expect nothing like that. But that's the way with miracles. Often small and in passing. You must realize you packed everything in this one. Cats, dogs and graffiti among the brutalism and pretty churches - but all juxtaposed. Except maybe you could have walked a while to find the best pizza place in central Serbia. I'm nicotined out myself. It's what I do sometimes...drink more beers than I'd admit, come home and smoke while watching KZbin. Windows open but I'll still cook curry tomorrow to mask the smell. I'd bake a couple of those potato things if the 7-11 had them. Was it an apartment building or a school - the grey cement place? They did have plenty of windows. Probably a few angels live or work there and I wouldn't mind applying. You have that effect. Angels that we are, the dove flies above us. Our assignment must be to - at least - witness the glory while sounding real. And you're succeeding. This was like the CliffsNotes of your library produced for a dead king. Thanks!

Žiča used to have a bright red coating. I don't know why they took it off. Is it some sort of renovation?

I thought the same when I got there! Re renovation yes I believe so, someone else in the comments confirmed. There were a lot of construction guys around the exterior and also behind the tower so I assume they were on a break lol
