Cool story. I forgot all about that engine going on about telephones. Guess he couldn't control himself. But I have noticed that after he was repaired, his whistle no longer sounded like a telephone. Very impressive. Also nice to feature Arthur again; he's one of my favourites that I want back. 🙂 Oh, and I like that cameo of Hercules from Tugs when Arthur is at the docks. 😃

That is a great story! It was good to see Withfield again and it was so amazing to see a different side of him. I'll be honest I thought the way to sort out Withfield's problem could have been fleshed out a bit more. I get yeah a trip to the works but it just felt a bit rushed a trip to the works and he's sorted no bridge between trying to solve the problem and having the problem fixed

My personal theory is that he was placed in a shed for a long time and in that shed was a telephone off the hook and Withfield spend years listening to it hearing the voices of the operators repeating their phrases and connecting people. That or his shed was next to a call center and with thin walls, he heard everything the operators would say.

Well ? Skarlowy and Sir Handel - I wouldn't worry about that! Fergus put him in his place but Richard helped to fix him up! Though I agree with some others - Whitfield was quite the amusing anecdote and difficulty and it is a pity that he won't be immersed in Telephone or Fish Exchange complications! You may have done away with it a bit too soon TB76 ! Oh well! All good things must come to an end! I suppose!! Though it took Fergus the hard boiler and Richard the bumbling tender engine to sort Whitfield out!

I've worked something else of you! TB76 Returns! The music at the end of this episode is a hymn ! And one that I know fairly well! Which means that you are - or have been in your younger days - a former Church Chorister! As a Church Chorister myself - I have the habit of pulling the legs of Choristers of all ages! And my own involvement in that - places me in the long-term area of 40 years in several church choirs. So I can't avoid pulling your leg as I have done fairly recently! I can assure you, however, you're not the only victim of that humour. There has been some others at least 11 or 12 years younger than yourself. I certainly know one young gentleman who was the butt of one incident - in October 2020! Who was put out when the Bass and Counter Tenor of the Vicars Choral at Wells Cathedral started singing in the facilities of a local hotel in the City of Wells. The young fellow's first words were " Oh no, not again!!!" That didn't work, the two gentlemen carried on - exasperated, he shouted " WILL YOU TWO - SHUT UP!!!" And erm! Well? I made it worse! I sang " 🎼 Oh dearie me, O lad you've had it🎵🎶 you won't stop them, not one little bit! 🎵 You'll think that it's quite the castastrophe! 🎶 You won't stop them, that's it for thee!!🎶🎵" It did not - to be said ! Make his day! However it started off a wonderful association with the Wells Cathedral Choristers for me! I respect them all - greatly! I will always remember it, to my dying day! And with fondness! I share the story with you. Because I feel that it could help you out under some very difficult times for yourself! I hope that it does do so! 😊
