Finally done, it was a lot of fun working on this animatic! maybe i'll do more "fish in a birdcage" animatics in the future, hope you guys enjoyed it too!
Explanation:
Young Prince Corey lived trapped within the castle walls. From his balcony, he used to watch 3 kids around his age perform for his people, Corey always begged his father to watch the show, but he wouldn't let him. until one day the prince disobeyed the rules and ran away to watch the performance but the show was already over when he arrived. that was the last time Corey saw them.

Love it! I am really fascinated by all the fun camera movements (I think that’s the right word?) you do. It creates a really cool effect with the wobbling. ALSO lore question: is there a reason the boys trapped inside?

Whaaa ty im still learning how to do it, but im so happy you noticed .x3 Yes there is a reason, Corey's father is paranoid about the boy's safety since in the past an accident occurred and he fears the same might happen again.

Whoa, this is the first animatic of yours I watch, and it made me pretty curious. I wonder if the protagonist is actually ill or if the pills have another purpose, whetever benign or malign; I've read below that his father does care about his safety, so it's more likely it's benign, or at least with good intentions... and if he's actually sick, I wonder what's going to happen now that he ran away? Will his health get worse? I also loved the detail of Corey using the paper as a telescope, because it makes it a bit closer to him personally, and is really cute considering he's a child; who hasn't done that as a kid? Oh, and that ending was one of the most heart punching cliffhangers I've ever seen. The boy just runs to his father. He doesn't stop to think he could be angry for leaving and exploring a while, I'm pretty sure it was just a little runaway to have some fun and he was planning to come back soon. Then he falls to the ground and his father closes the door on him. That's a really strong and sudden rejection, which makes me question if there is another layer to the relationship, not only "father tries very hard to keep son safe" but also "father expects the best and obedience from child".

Thank you very much for the nice words x3 I'll try to explain, Corey used to take those pills because when he was younger he got very sick and his father believes that giving him that medicine will prevent it from happening again and that's also why he's always locked in his room. Whahaha I was thinking of giving him binoculars at first, but then I totally forgot to draw him with it, so I decided to use the paper xD About the ending, what you wrote sounds so cool, but it is not what happened, whahaha. Corey wasn't running towards his dad, maybe it wasn't clear but Corey was using the paper to watch 3 kids perform. when he runs away from the castle he was trying to go watch the performance, but he dosent get there on time and it was already over, when he turns around he wasn't running towards his father but towards the performers who were getting ready to leave, my idea was like Corey was trying so hard watch them, but all his effort was in vain, as he couldn't even talk to them. I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear in the animatic, I'll try to improve in the next one. X3

As I’ve understood it, it’s an allegory for being disabled
