Got a dink on a rebel cricket popper today. I tossed it on a light though, not ultra-light. I thought I was going small with my 1/8oz jigs, but that 1/64oz jig you've got is insane! Looks super fun.

My ultralight set up is an old Eagle Claw Traveler spinning reel on an even older 5'-6" Shakespeare Contender rod. I love it. Makes 1.5 lbs feel like 15. It's my goto set up for Ned rigs and drop shots and the like.

This was so awesome... Could be my family fishing day too! I have twins, almost 4 years old. Going fishing is like: all of us being excited, running to the lake! ...except for my wife, she's happy, but, rather calm. Arriving at the bank, we're throwing like noones buisness! 10min later: first kid gets wet, noone's fishing anymore. Lot of caring for the twins, lots of cuddling... 30mins after arriving: someone is falling into the water, twins and wife leave the lake. I'm left alone with all the stuff, fishing a couple of hours, catching stuff (sometimes fish too), carrying all the baggage home. :D Back home, they tell you all the awesome stories of the day: seeing a bird, catching some butterflies, getting wet by falling into the lake, collecting stones in the yard... All of the adventures, but nothing about fishing! :D Later, at night, the twins don't fall asleep, but, the kids play fishing at the banks of the bed... Totally family fishing day like yours!!! :D :D :D

Not ultralight but my current go to ned rod is a light action 5ft Shimano rod I've caught a couple of two pounders that felt like they were eight it's so much fun!

Have you tried the Nikko Hellgramite? I went to a friend’s pond with my light gear and hooked into a 5 lb largemouth. It is my new pb. Used a 1/10 oz Ned head. Sooo much fun. My son just hooked into his first river smallmouth this evening weighing in at 1 lb 14 oz. The Nikko is really working for us this year.
