We use polarized sunglasses or polarized filters to check to make sure the glass is not tempered before drilling. To prevent blowout on the back you can clamp a piece of wood to the back with spring clamps. Another trick is to take a shallow plastic container with the bottom cut out and lay a bead of modeling clay on the bottom as a water dam to drill submerged.

Hey Fish Boy, about drilling 10 gallons and not coming out perfect, you should try putting a piece of wood on the backside with pressure to help you make a perfect cut/hole without chipping, just as you would do when drilling wood. Great videos and great information. Keep up the great videos. Saludos y bendiciones from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

Hey, Fishboy and viewers. I know it's been a couple of years since this video was posted, but I'm considering this same rack for my own set up and I was hoping you or a commenter could help me out. These shelves are supposed to be 18 inches deep. That should be wide enough for a 40 breeder (36" x 18" x 16"), but I've found detailed measurements for Marineland tanks that say they're actually 36 (5/16)" x 18 (9/32)" x 16 (3/4)". Would that extra 9/32th of an inch make it too big too store safely on these shelves? I'm very nervous about overhang, but I can't understand how these shelves got so popular if they can't even hold tanks with the same nominal dimensions they have.

That rack should fit 2 40 breeders on each shelf. It takes a little work to angle it in, but it will fit . To fit them in, put the right tank all the way to the right and push it all the way back, and then angle the left tank in (at an angle). As you scoot in the left tank at an angle, straighten it out and it should fit in perfectly. Then pull the right tank back and align them together so it wont look so weird and wolah, you have yourself 2 40 breeders per shelf on an Edsal 77"W x 72"H x 24"D 4 stand...Ive done it a few times and those were my techniques....hopefully it helps.

That little bit of blowout, you’re getting on the backside. If you wish to clamp a piece of wood front and back you would eliminate that so your guide piece as you were doing with another solid piece on the back clamped in position.

Love your videos. I was curious how you are able to keep the water level so high in the tanks even though they’re drilled. Most of them I don’t see the water line below the rim. Was it hard to figure out the plumbing on the water change system? Do you have to use pvc glue to keep the joints from leaking?

Would the rack system from Walmart support 2 125 72 in Long 18 in wide approximately 1,300 pounds apiece
@luster54974 жыл бұрын
Wait, those are 20g huh? So 1 rack is long enough to fit around 5 "20g tank" and 7 "10g tank" per layer. Are you using a brand name light that is long enough to light one whole roll of tank or are you using custom built LED DIY?

Great video. I am currently in the middle of figuring out a rack solution for a 65 gallon a a couple 20 gallons. It looks like you have two 75 gallons on the two foot deep shelves - do you have additional support under this other than the sheet of plywood on the shelf surface?
