I just got that one! Others I have gone from 6 months to over a year depending on the fish load. And usually my fish load is pretty high!

@@RickyKenerlyCichlids wow so not much in terms of maintenance! It's great seeing someone using something so simple and cheap for a fish that's supposedly very picky, just shows that you don't need to invest crazy amounts to keep your fish happy. I'm starting a fish room and obviously air is the way I'm going because of money. This is a great idea for running even big tanks!

Nice tour. What makes the swiss tropical matten filter better than your diy? Is the flow better because you took down two of your old ones in the 125? Jus wondering because I just did the DIY one because of your vids

It has better flow and is a better fit. I like the diy ones for the bargain. I have always wanted to try the swiss tropical ones. The matt is made much better like they advertise. Their jetlifters work a lot better than sponge filter parts. No need to make the switch right away but you might consider them for your next aquarium!
