*Fish Tacos (Mexico) Recipe*
*Ingredients:*
*For the Fish:*
1 pound white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
*For the Slaw:*
2 cups shredded cabbage
1/2 cup shredded carrots
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
*For the Tacos:*
Corn tortillas
Lime wedges
Avocado slices
Fresh cilantro leaves
Hot sauce (optional)
*Instructions:*
1. *Prepare the Fish:*
In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Dip each fish fillet into the buttermilk, then coat with the flour mixture.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook the fish fillets for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Transfer the fish to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Flake the fish into bite-sized pieces.
2. *Prepare the Slaw:*
In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, and chopped cilantro.
In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, lime juice, and salt until well combined.
Pour the mayonnaise mixture over the cabbage mixture and toss to coat evenly.
3. *Assemble the Tacos:*
Warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
Place some flaked fish onto each tortilla.
Top with a generous amount of slaw.
Add avocado slices, fresh cilantro leaves, and a squeeze of lime juice.
Drizzle with hot sauce if desired.
4. *Serve:*
Serve the fish tacos immediately with extra lime wedges on the side.
