Thanks you all so much for watching! This was a video I filmed from a fun day out on the water with my buddies ‪@RafaeldeOliveira‬ and Wellington. Luckily it was calm enough offshore that I could deep drop baits down to 400ft of water catch some Almaco Jacks, and Amberjacks. Then we moved inshore and got on some grouper action but didn't land many and saw a juvenile tiger shark. I hope you all enjoyed!!

Offshore bottom fishing is the best, you never know what your ganna get, it could be anything from a giant mangrove snapper to a Goliath grouper. Great stuff, nice video.

A little tip for jigging is multicolored braid! It’ll save you from getting snagged in the bottom.

I enjoyed your video. Just a quick tip... Use a bait dehooker and your bait will stay lively much longer than when you handle them like that.

Yeah, you need that device to release fish at depth.
@FishAholicTV
@FishAholicTV 11 ай бұрын
I have the devices. AJ's and Almaco's typically don't need it. If the fish floated bully up then I would use the vent I had on my belt. We also had the descending device.

Those skipjack, or thornbelly as you were calling them, aren't bad baits because they don't get bit but because the venomous spines really hurt if they get you. Not dangerous or anything but if you've ever gotten spined by them you know. Really bad stinging for awhile and even swelling sometime.
@FishAholicTV
@FishAholicTV 11 ай бұрын
Hmmm I've definitely got poked by a couple of them by now but I haven't had any reaction to it. Maybe it depends on how allergic you are to it...?

@@FishAholicTV Oh thats weird. Yea must be different reactions for different people. I might have slightly exaggerated the effects but I have had a bad reaction multiple times.

what does cutting the head and tail off the bait do? what purpose does it serve?
@FishAholicTV
@FishAholicTV 11 ай бұрын
Tbh I I'm not sure but I've tested it and it seems sometimes the fish prefer when it is cut like that. Maybe it gives off more scent and encourages the fish to eat it more. Time on the water taught me that trick. If only we could ask the grouper and snapper the secret would be revealed haha. Tight Lines till next time!

At times yes it doesn’t matter. But I’ve been that guy catching them while others next to me aren’t on days when they are line shy. I get back to the ramp and guys ask “what were you doing man?” I tell them the bait. They say “we were using the same”. Then I ask “how long were your leaders?” And they say “long man like 10ft”. I say “ahhh I was using 30lb 30ft leaders”. When I first moved down here I was like that. Watching guys next to me slay while I caught barely anything. I thought 10 or 15ft leaders were plenty long enough. Until my neighbor clued me in on the line shyness of mutton snapper.
