UPDATE: I unplugged the Onn roku tv while it was turned on for a few minutes to try to reset things, took out the batteries on the remote and kept hitting all the buttons and now it seems to work fine surprisingly. I'm guessing just unplugging the tv while turned on may have reset things so that's something you may want to try if you have a similar problem with your roku remote.

About 3 years ago, I found a 55 inch Samsung QLED TV on sale for $300. Regular price what only $600-700. It's a fantastic looking TV with rich, vibrant colors, and some of the blackest blacks I've seen on a non-OLED. You really don't need to spend over $1,000 to get a nice quality TV. Heck, I probably wouldn't spend over $600. Tech is getting so good, that even these cheaper TVs should really be good enough for most people.

So about 6 years ago I bought an expensive 4k UHD Samsung TV back when 4k still was impressive. Overtime that TV has developed some light bleed and some weird red rash that can be seen on bright colored screens. Around the same time I purchased 2 Hisense 58 inch TVs that were right around 250$ each one for my office and one for my wife and myself bedroom. The Hisense TVS have horrible speakers so both need sound bars but to this day not only are both TV'S still perfect but the picture and color are also better then my expensive Samsung and the Hisense TV's are also 4K UHD. I've heard it all, they are going to fail, they can't be repaired because they are glued together so on and so forth but as of this moment I will simply never buy an expensive TV again. You don't get what you pay for .

I bought and returned 4, TCL 55"/50" TVs. All came with 30-40 dead pixels, clumped together, upon opening. 1st was 55", then I went with 50" ones as they were sold out of 55" when I returned it. I do not consider TCL a good or decent TV anymore. I'd now try an ONN TV over every trying a TCL again.

A major problem with almost all new TV's now, is they have become so thin and enclosed without proper cooling, they can no longer properly dissipate the heat the TV creates. This causes their overall lifespan to be lessened. I am sure the manufacturers know this and welcome shorter lifespans. Funny how no reviewers seem to understand this or ever call it out.

"They" do make pedestal mounts using the VESA holes in the back if you want that center post look. Which also negate the furniture issue. That lets you mount a bigger TV on something where the something is shorter than the TV.

I have the ONN 65-in TV I bought it when it was $228 on Black Friday we got two of them I think that was 3 years ago? Maybe for? Anyway so far the one of my bedroom has worked flawlessly zero issues whatsoever however the one of my sister's room died All I did was pick it up and move it to another room and it stopped working I didn't drop it or bump it or do anything else the panel is fine it just doesn't work anymore and they refused to honor the warranty it was within it two years they just ignored me. So what I was suggest is don't move it once you have it set up :-) but otherwise I've been very pleased with it when it's still works is working just fine I connect a computer to it a Chromecast to it and a media player Micca spec which is really nice because it plays pretty much anything although now I can just cast from my phone as well or my tablet or my PC. They don't hold a candle to my Sony oled 65-in not even close but now you're comparing a $300 TV to a $4,000 TV which is not really fair They're right you can't really get a great TV for under $1,000 however for 99% of us we can't really tell the difference between a great TV especially if they're not side by side if I were to put the o&n next to my Sony yeah you're going to see the difference but if I don't put them side by side you're not really going to notice the difference unless you're into that kind of thing.

These Chinese sets may save you a hundred bucks but the Korean sets last for years with no issues, and have better features and (importantly) quality. Your time is money. @@ispeakfacts6989 there is a big difference between 120 "motion rate" and 120 refresh rate. Motion rate is a marketing term, it tries to simulate the smoothness of 120hz while still being a 60hz display. Most tvs under $800 dont have a real 120hz refresh rate. Anyone who is picky about their tv display for gaming would not use a walmart 300 dollar TV in the first place, though. @ispeakfacts6989 they advertise 120hz refresh through post processing. The TV panel is a native 60hz tv though so you are not using the full potential of your PS5 for games that allow 120hz refresh rates, not to mention lack of VRR but that's irrelevant for such budget TVs that are great for the price of entry. True 120hz panels start at a much higher price bracket unfortunately, depending on size of course.

I bought a 65” RCA TV from Walmart a couple years ago thinking it was a great deal. One year later I had a line running down the right side of the screen. It never got better and would have cost too much to repair. You get what you pay for I guess. In the garbage it went

If you're gaming or watching fast-paced sports like soccer or football, it doesn't matter what size it is, at least 120 Hz. These are all 60 Hz TVs, so the sports and games may look kinda blurry and not clear. 60hz is good for TV shows and movies.

I just got a Hisense 55 inch TV and a ONN 70 inch TV both Roku. The Hisense was packed worse in the box not as protected. A good picture and good sound for a TV. The ONN TV was packed good in the box and protected. A good picture but the sound is average. I got a Roku stream bar soundbar for the ONN Tv and solved the sound issue. The 55 inch is my bedroom and the 70 inch in the main room. The ONN was $430 the Hisense $193. I just moved and got a bedroom TV and upgraded the other one.

1:01 The Onn TV is not even a real 4k display. 5:23 That's got to be some of the worst backlight quality I've seen on the Onn. Can't be good for your eyes. The TCL also has a very high native contrast ratio at around 9000:1 so it's great for night time.

Idk what "experts" you've been seeing, but TCL TV's are consistently recommended by reputable electronic websites/magazines and experts. I have a 65" TCL that I got from Best Buy like 5 years ago and I have zero issues with it, I think it has a great picture, I love the Roku operating system on it and while it's sound is lackluster that is a pretty common issue with most flat screens and a soundbar is basically a required purchase for all but the most expensive TV's, and if you can afford a really expensive TV then why would you cheap out on the sound system? No matter how good a TV's sound is, it can't beat a proper surround sound system.

Can anyone help me on this: I have a samsung tv, its not the cheapest model but like 3 up from the bottom. Whenever I watch hdr 4k movies in various streaming sites, the darks are horrible and washed out. With Netflix, theres and option to turn hdr off and it still gives the 4k picture and it's amazing. Some of my movie apps don't. Would it be a simple fix to buy a roku 4k box and turn the hdr off? I have a load of movies on fandango/vudu and I'm wondering if it would stream 4k non hdr instead of forcing the 1080p version.

Out of the box performance is a very poor way to evaluate the quality of a television set. With the display being the largest percentage of the cost, where corners are the back light, the assembly method, and the quality of components on the control boards. All those cuts reduce MTBF. The very cheapest ones are nearly impossible to repair. If you cannot get one with a 3 year extended warranty, look further.
