According to De La Soul, record companies try to get three good albums out of an artist, then do their best to sabotage their future for failure. Add the fact that Fishbone's music is naturally a square peg in a round hole. Bottom line... recording companies look out for themselves and will screw over the artist at any chance.

@RastaSaiyaman3 жыл бұрын
@@dwaynerichardson5380 There's also another reason and it lies with the black community themselves. Over the last 30 years, Hip Hop has been the dominant music form in the black community and among kids growing up, it's simply NOT DONE to go anywhere near a guitar. Why do you think Little Wayne does that "Guitar Solo" shtick of his? Certainly not because of love for the instrument. People like Tosin Abasi, Robert Randolph and Gary Clarke Jr. are modern day black guitarists but if you went up to a group of black teenagers, and asked them who they are they wouldn't know but ask them about Tyler the Creator and Drake, they would because Hip Hop is all they know. So black rock bands such as 24/7 Spyz, Bad Brains, Fishbone and Living Colour are deliberately overlooked because of that. Edit: I should have Mentioned DuG Pinnick of Kings' X here. He could have been huge if he had been a modern day artist. Because he embodies everything that today's society keeps talking about: - He's a badass musician and singer - He's gay - He's black But nobody knows who he is.

Same here! A great experience as an AIC fan. Almost like being reincarnated into an alternate 1992 all over again.

Very influential band for a long time. Also, they were my favorite band for a long time too.

I love that fishbone are still as eccentric and fun as they were when I saw them years ago. They gave a pretty sick dimension to this classic. It sounds so BIGGGG!

This was just a pure shot - incredible. That whole show was great with a couple of exceptions, but this stood out. These guys are not only great musicians but music fans - like AIC put through an Ornette Coleman filter.

That metaphor with Ornette Coleman is brilliant.

Best AIC cover ever. Period. No contest. I actually like it better than the original and I really love the original. Funkin’ Aces.

been watchin you since 80.. you put EVERYONE to shame who dares to try to compare... pity the band who lets you cover them....

Truly jaw-dropping cover. I didn't watch this when it first came out but I've been going back and watching AIC's unplugged and got recommended this. WHAT ENERGY!!

Fishbone absolutely kills this. I haven't listen to them since the 90's - seems they have only gotten better with age! This cover and the Dallas Green cover of 'Rain when I die' are the highlights of this incredible tribute to AICs.

OMG What a PERFECT Pairing :D FISHBONE are the Amoeba which gave birth to pretty much every 90's LA Band. And yet they're still the one and only original they always were (!)

Did fishbones have a modernized breakdown of a grunge classic? This is art

Would LOVE to hear a studio version of this! Amazing cover! Stayed true to the original frame (fish skeleton) but spread that funky/punky Fishbone DNA all over it! Angelo is almost 60 and still looks and rocks out like he's 20! Respect!

In all my years i’ve never heard Alice spoken in Fishbone. Possibly the best start to a work day in a loooooong time. Perma-grin right now. That was f’n amazing.

They actually toured together in 1993 on the lollapalooza tour. Norwood Fisher, the bassist, also contributed to Jerry Cantrell's first solo album. They've all been friends for years.

Jazed and Confused Jerry of AIC used to say Fishbone was the band they never wanted to follow because you couldn't top them. They're that good. The AIC guys have remained friends with the other bands that co-headlined Lollapalooza.

AIC is a very under appreciated band by the mainstream but no where near under appreciated as Fishbone. Both are true fucking giants of the realm of music and should be loved and respected as such. What an amazing cover!
@tygold85544 жыл бұрын
somebody says "take an Alice in Chains song, add horns, keyboards and a funky backbeat" you'd probably say "impossible" - nobody gets away with this but Fishbone - great to see a full band rocking a great tune
