Fishburn 80th Anniversary D-Day Commemoration Ceremony on the Village Green 2024 + Beacon Lighting

Operation Overlord : Allies used over 5,000 ships & landing craft to deliver more than 150,000 troops on five beaches in Normandy. The landings marked the start of a very long and costly campaign in north-west Europe that finally convinced the German high command defeat was inevitable.
The whole event was put in place to commemorate and honour the effort during the war.
This ceremony was presented by Fishburn Parish Council and the Church of England Parish of the Upper Skerne. Featuring a bag-pipe player and readings from the local community.
