While fishing, these three fishermen noticed the fawn out in the middle of the lake. The men rescued the deer and took it back to shore.

The fawn was out way to far in the water to survive. Excellent move by taking it to shore. Most people would have let it drowned not knowing what to do and worrying about touching it. Once on shore, the fawn will call its mother. The fawns call can be heard for miles so I'm almost certain it met up with its mother. :)

Tammy Hout If that happened, the mother can easily swim across. I've actually seen adult deer swim across large rivers. Sound travels across water really well so identifying her young and finding it would be easy. :))

that's kind of a hard call, because I don't know if it would be able to find it's mama just letting it loose there, and it was way too young to survive on it's own. I think maybe it should have been taken to a rehabilitation center or home to be raised... But definitely what was done was better than leaving it out in the water, poor baby!

A predator could have spooked it into jumping into the water to begin with. It's mother could have been killed or was leading it across the lake and it fall behind. The odds are it did not make it and was killed or starved. I hope I am wrong but I am doubtful it survived. Deer are pretty smart though, one can hope it's mother found it again.

I'm a bit concerned about this one. That fawn is too young to survive on its own. Maybe mom was on shore, but doubtful, take it in the direction is was going, but only intervene if it starts to go under. It's a tough call, mom is probably dead, but then take it to a sanctuary. Anyway, we are a part of nature too and your hearts were in the right place.

I know their intentions were good and that they are good -hearted people, but the chances of the fawn being found by it's mother in this situation is not good, without knowing where and why it went into the water. It will not survive, to ensure survival the fawn should have been brought to a wild-life rescue organization.

You have to realize though that not every city or county has rehab or rescue centers for wild animals. Even if you call Game and Parks, most of the time in situations like this, they tell you to let it go and leave it be so nature can take its course because there’s nothing they can do about it.

The distress call or screaming is actually a call out to any doe or its mother who hears it. Does who hear it even from miles away will come running. By instinct they will actually adopt the fawn which is why you see some with two or three in some cases. Also don't be near a fawn if your on land because I've also seen someone almost be mauled by a doe defending a fawn. They have no mercy when it comes to someone harming their babies.

Humans torture animals all the time, even in this "seemingly innocent" video, they're still fishing. They're killing fish, that's NOT a nice thing to do. Go vegan, and only then can you say that you're a nice human. The deer wasn't even drowning, it was SWIMMING, and if anything, they just took it to the total opposite part of the lake, and now it's lost its family forever, because it knew how to go back to the shore, but they took it to the whole other part of the lake, and basically ruined its life, because it will never see its mother ever again. Did you see how far from the shore that deer was? A deer simply DOESN'T get that far and "not know how to swim". This deer was in NO danger, and they just ruined its life.

Then something grabbed me and hoisted me right up out of the water into this weird alien convertible-top-down craft, and then these 3 creatures with beer breath held me hostage for a while, before taking me back to shore and chucking me back into waist-deep water. I decided it would be better to hide in the dense foliage rather than wait to see if the creatures were going to follow me. Wow. What a day. Wait til Mom hears what happened !

@theothercrypt
@theothercrypt 10 жыл бұрын
sirdanik Actually, I'm pretty sure it's mother wasn't out in the middle of the lake with it... They brought it to the closest shore, which is 85% likely to be the shore that it came from in the first place. Therefore, they were kinda bringing the little guy BACK to its mother... Soooo, you know... COMPASSIONATE. It's a fawn, it's innocent and ignorant of most of the things that it gets taught later on. Its a deer, its not the intelligent to begin with. The little guy probably got spooked and bolted into the water and just kept swimming. I doubt it knew it would get tired and not be able to return the long swim back to shore. I don't care where you are standing, its obvious these guys saved it from drowning. Then, on top of that, they let it get back to shore without fuss and as little interference as possible where it very obviously was calling for its mother who, I don't doubt, was somewhere on that shore coming to find it in response. Open your eyes and take off those charred up glasses that are very blatantly obscuring your vision.
@theothercrypt
@theothercrypt 10 жыл бұрын
sirdanik Never did I say that a deer can't swim, they are actually pretty good swimmers. What I said, and as you must have overlooked in my other comment, was that this is a BABY and its a DEER, two things running against it in the smarts department, it doesn't yet know its own physical limits. The little guy probably got spooked and bolted into the water and just continued to swim as far as possible. Only when it got to the point that it was really low on energy did the thing realize it was so far from shore that he probably couldn't see it itself and had no chance of making it back. These fisherman saved it from drowning, that's my point. Anyone or anything, even people, that far from the shore are in some amount of trouble. A person would have to be a pretty good swimmer to be able to get out that far and swim back without problem. Now think of a fawn, much smaller, much younger, much less energy, and much less skilled at swimming when compared to a human. That thing WOULD HAVE drowned if it was left. 100%. you could already see the poor guy struggling to keep his head above water. WHERE is there logic in saying "Oh, the mother may not even be on that side of the lake!". Because one: it doesnt seem like a huge body of water, I don't doubt that an animal or a person could take a day and walk around to the other side, and two: why would a person leave the little thing to drown with a simple 'it'll die if i bring it to shore anyway', there is a HUGE chance that the mother could very well be close by. yeah, maybe there is a 60% chance of the fawn finding it mother and surviving after they got it to shore, but there was a 0% chance of it surviving if they left it out in the middle of the lake. Any sensible person with compassion would take that small chance to save its life. But hey, I don't know you and I don't know what you would do, I can only speak off of the images you are creating with your oh-so-educated comments. Perhaps you are not a sensible person with compassion and therefore would have left the deer to 'continue its merry swimming'. So, dear sir, I think you should maybe reevaluate you look upon life and nature and the animals that are within it. Maybe sing one of those childrens songs that teaches you about compassion.

NaturesCreed The fawn will also be adopted by another doe too. So if its mother cannot find it, it doesn't mean that's the end of that fawns life. I have does that adopt orphan fawns all the time on my properties. So I'd say that chance of survival is about 85%, which is about its normal chance anyway if they make it through the first week, which this fawn is about 4-6 weeks old or older..

sirdanik Whatever. You obviously are the authority on deer and wildlife biology. I took the bait folks, but don't feed the troll.

What was a baby deer doing out in the middle on a River? Apart of me thinks you put the Fawn in the middle of the River and filmed like you actually recused the Fawn falsely.

They swim really long distances. How do you know, if you "save" him at all? 😉 I probably would take him a ride too.. Cute little deer, good job! 😄

They're francophone from Quebec. The "tabarnak" is pretty much used just here and it isn't a real good one, trust me.

Kudos to the fishermen. My wife would have made me stay with it until I knew for sure it was found and not killed. I would have. I don't believe in eating it until it comes of age.
