Very nice project. One suggestion - put a small piece of felt where the nails hit the sides of the box to silence them so there's no hint that something needs to move inside.

Many thanks, I've been looking for "plans for simple wood projects" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Yanathew Wood Waggler - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now )? It is a good one of a kind product for building amazing sheds and your own wood work projects without the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my mate got amazing success with it.

When I was a kid I bought this trick piggy bank box. It was a small box with a coin slot in the top and the only thing glued was a mouse trap on the bottom. You set the trap and put the box together and insert a coin; then the mouse trap causes the sides and top to fall. lol. I thought it was cool as a kid but this is so much cooler. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Drew. This is a awesome design for a trick box. Your instructions made the build go real fast. I made a couple other centrifugal boxes with marginal success. But this one works great. I made a couple of modifications that worked well for me. On the bottom I used 1" square feet with felt on the bottom of them. I put 1 foot in the middle and doubled the felt so it was slightly higher this allows it to spin real nice. I also, cut the channels attached to the top in half and put a piece of cardstock between the halves. This prevents the rods from sliding beyond half way into the channel. The rods were occasionally not sliding out when the box was spun.

Haha, thanks Doug! You know it probably wouldn't be hard to incorporate multiple locking systems in the same box. So that you had to spin it to unlock 2 of the bars, but magnets to unlock 2 more. That would be taking it to the next level! Man I'd love to see what you would come up with!
