Fished just like he said :).... 2 spots market and spodded with fermented sweetcorn..... Every time I've hit the middle of those two spots I've got some mean takes, and even 2 hook pools....but then I've got 7 monsters. I really love that piece of mind that a fenced and secured fishery gives you...

Very good look at the venue. Love farlows. Shame it gets so busy, but thats just a sign of how good the place is I guess. If only they'd get the cafe facilities open again!

the reason for the smelly bank is there used to be an abattoir called squires just behind the lake, on the canal. If the wind was blowing the wrong way it used to stink to high hell.

Yes great venue, just a shame that it now feels like unless your a regular and social media extraordinaire they just dont invest in as much time with you when asking productive areas/sightings to put you in the general areas. Some people travel long distances to come here and dont have the luxury of getting familiar with the masive lake like some. Shame!

This whole weed business seems to be very technical with massively contradicting opinions from good angler to good angler. Of course you can catch with your bait in the weed, after all that’s where the carp love to be isn’t it? And aren’t they meant to eat vegetation hence the reason the yanks put em in? So the question is how to gently flutter ya rig down to settle on the top of it? Obviously no lead, and bait boat. If we tighten the line as much as poss before dropping the bait, then maybe we could use line clips to hook the fish. Send out boilie HALVES in the boat which flutter down gently, along with other lightweight baits, casters, maybe maize, bran etc. Surely someone’s tried this in history ?
