This net holder has been designed to be mounted on the outside of the boat transom, many of which are built with an outward sloping angle. A traditional net holder would have your net leaning out away from the boat making it necessary to lean out and reach further than is comfortable to do in the high-tension instances of reeling in salmon in wavy open water conditions.
