Jellyfish need the cylinder tanks, they can only swim one way and can’t stop or turn back, they also can’t see or feel their environment so if they get stuck on a corner they’re gonna just be there and it’s gonna damage their bell. It’s actually the perfect animal to abuse because it doesn’t have a central nervous system to even feel pain
@b1oh12 жыл бұрын
I never knew they could only swim one way. Dumb question, how are only certain species located in specific areas? I know there are underwater currents, but they're not circular. It seems like there would be a traceable path of jellyfish migration. I need to find some books and documentaries on this. I'm thoroughly interested.
@microwavedcheetos2 жыл бұрын
@@b1oh1 they’re all dependent on the sea current, that’s why some beaches became infested with them during the monsoon season. There are also freshwater jellyfish that got trap in lakes when the sea level used to be higher
@AzraelThanatos2 жыл бұрын
I think it's more of that they shouldn't have corners. There's the vertical disc tanks that are being sold with jellies as kits and the cylinder tanks as well that normally have a very controlled flow. Of course, there are a few that don't require it, but those are tanks that probably need permits because something like irukandji or similar aren't ones you really should be having at home...
@jygergruz9562 Жыл бұрын
Actually that is sort of a myth. Jellyfish don’t need cylinder tanks, but an unexposed flow creator and certain direction of flow. Corners do not damage their bell.

@ritahueston94752 жыл бұрын
I used to care for jellies when I worked as an aquarist and they definitely need a tank that doesn't have places where the current stagnates (i.e. corners). If jellies settle onto a surface it will actually start to rot their bells and they can get really bad infections. Upside-down jellies requirements are completely different from barrel jellies requirements for sure but they still all need ample space and a strong current!

I'm not on that level of aquascaping. However, I'm pretty active on Reddit in the aquarium and aquascaping subreddits. I've got a big fish problem. a while ago my brother and his wife gifted me 2 common gold fish in a plant pot for a tree. its not small but i wouldn't call it big ether. they told me that the water would not need changing, that the cuts from one of their pond plants thrown in to float on to would filter the water and the fish only needed to be fed once every 5 days. i didn't think that was the case but they had kept and breed goldfish for years so i trusted them. obviously the water got putrid. i asked them what i should do and they just said that the water just gets like that sometimes and it will be fine later. i was doubtful and would pour a lot of the water out and add more clean water but that didn't help much. after a while when i went to feed my fish i saw them gasping for air at the top of the vile water and took the fish out and put it in a plastic tank. i don't know the dimensions of it but i know its far to small. its basically a goldfish bowel but a rectangle. one of the goldfish died and i was rather upset that my untempt to help it failed miserably. i knew what i had moved them into was to small but it was meant to be a quick temporary thing which I'm glad i did do as the "pond" froze over so i wouldn't be able to feed them let alone them get any air. i have for the past couple of days been looking into getting a proper tank for my goldfish and thought i had a good plan for a house upgrade. it wasn't till i looked up what fish i could maybe put in with it as tank mates did i notice a discrepancy with information i was getting. up to this point i believed getting a 70 litre tank (about 18 us gallons/13 uk) would be nice and roomy and allow for me to get more fish friends till i saw what fish can be put in with goldfish that i discovered they needed a lot more space. i think the information i was getting was for juvenile goldfish but the one i have is a few years old, i don't know how old exactly maybe 3. its not fully grown but i just found out how big the fish can get and i have no were in my house big enough for a 4ft/30 us gallon tank or the money to buy one nor do i have a pond. this also means the little container my fish is in is even worse than i thought it was. while i would love to start up a aqua scaping hobby, i had a good idea of everything i wanted to get and how to set it up the only problem was this one fish. i can't take the fish back as since i have had the fish my brother and his wife have had a messy brake up and don't live together anymore. i don't know what to do. god i hope i'm just stupid. please tell me i've just somehow massively failed the simple ability to use google and this is not as much of a problem as i think it is.
