@40:42 You can buy more fishing quotas from someone in rl, and that is in most nordic countries. Here you can even rent out your fishing quotas. I was one of them that ask for this to be added, i was a fisherman in my 20's

There is a separate micro joystick you use to set the trawl doors using the arrow keys. Sitting in the trawl chair, to your left you have the 'starboard warp wire joystick' and further to the left of that there are two other micro joysticks... The first micro stick doesn't do anything. But the second very thin micro one (on the same panel with four white gauges) says, "Use the arrow keys (default) to control the trawl doors" when you hover your mouse over it. I find it very awkward keeping my mouse hovered over it if the boat is rocking even slightly. But that is the control switch referred to.. And it does move depending which arrow key you press. But what it actually does, or which panel to add to the display I don't know, as I haven't experimented with it much.

Buying quota is a real life thing. Usually owned by very rich people and sold in small amounts to fisherman. That’s also why some boats look like they have been cut in half, because they have to get the best quotas as it’s dependant on size and power of the boat

For something that is Not a simulator as you pointed out, it is super fiddly and complex just to fish at all. So I be going for the simple game of crab fishing in the Alaska sea instead so much simple compared to all this? Thanks.

Thanks for this video... though really... I understood the majority of the Scanmar system... and since some things aren't simulated, not worth bothering about. However, you didn't cover just the Scanmar, and was able to learn why even when I was hitting them bang-on I wasn't getting anything. It was very frustrating. Now I know.

If you have bought all storages upgrades, the catch indicator is based on the default setting. That is pretty anoying because you have to reset it by hauling the trawl every time.

If you made the video please link it so i can watch it. 2 - in your case with the half full cargo, can you send the net back to water after Haul Trawl is finished? Hi Victor, no I haven't made one yet (you're the first to ask lol). In all honesty, it is a similar process. Yes, you can trawl until your hold is full.

I will always be confused about the trawling because the fish spots are literally below my doors and I catch fish or there’s none on the sonar or when there is lots of spots and stuff on radar my doors are below them and don’t pick up anything so I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong

The doors are at the opening (front) of your net, the actual net hangs 20-30 feet behind and below where the doors are...you just need to mentally visualise that as it isn't represented.

Ok, I know I'm 3 years late , but Im just getting started with trawling in Fishing NA on the Lunar Bow. And while this is a tutorial for the previous game the mechanics are similar so hopefully @Sim UK or someone could help me understand something. On the forward sonar the pinpoint shows the distance/depth for a school of fish ..so what exactly needs be at that depth to get an optimal catch? Is it Dp#3 or do the doors need to be around the same depth on either side of the school?

In real life you can actually buy quota. Each country sets a fishing quota which is divided amongst their fishing companies. A company can decide to sell their quota or part of it to another company. Often this is the case with smaller fishermen who decide to retire and don’t have a viable means for a successor.

Great tutorial! Except I was just trawling and I hit ice!! I heard the metal noise and speed just stopped bam ice. I just got to trawling. Today was my 2nd run. It was a 7million haul and my boat wasn’t even full!!! So I bought more storage cause why not lol. My only issue with the game is I fill on quota super fast with the other ships. Almost everyone one I’m full quota on cod. And i just started a new season it’s now February for me in game and the only boat I can catch cod on is the VC. My snarset and moby d are full. Other boats are just to small now lol. So far tho the lunar bow is awesome and huge!

I have only just started playing this game and love it. Down side you are not able to use both nets and lines at the same time unless you go to the dock and change them over..or am i missing something.

the pollock r usually 100-120 meters, or around 137 or 80 meters which is where you caught the most fish, after that u kept letting out the line for some reason, and got nothing

Well, I sorta figured it out. I had been trying to put it on the bottom row of the scanmar screen back at the trawling chair and it wouldn't let me. Then tonight I tried the top row and it worked. Then later I was rearranging and now I can't get it to show anywhere at the trawling chair again. That screen layout mechanism really blows for usability. Plus I wish it could hold more, like if you could manually resize the different windows in it. I am getting the hang of trawling tho thx to your video. I've got all the Lunar Bow upgrades now so time to payoff the loan and move to the Hermes. I actually like the Lunar Bow better looks wise and it's bigger but it can't catch the variety that Hermes does. I'm kinda torn. I'm with you on the arcade nature of the game, wish it had some more sim aspects to it. Even as it is now I manually dock nice an slow without banging the hull just cause I find it fun.

Some boats dont go, and others buy their quota from them. Hard for people to start the buisness all the quotas are grandfathered out.

I can rarely get my doors below 50m, if I do I'm dragging the bottom. I don't get how you get the doors down so fast, 10-15 min's deploying line till it's at 500m distance, and I'm still at under 50m door depth. Also, for those having issues with the hud, see this.. prntscr.com/lvjfen

D cee, not sure what you're doing to have that issue. IMHO the floor depth is never enough; the only thing I can think of is perhaps you have mix depth with another reading??

From trawls i get only 10 percent fish also my wires stop at like 130 deep for some reason
