My best day of fishing ever was using this very tactic. I tied my vote off of one of the pilings under a bridge in the Chesapeake Bay. Scoop crabs off the pilings and use them as bait. One after another after another 18 in to 30 inch stripers aka Rock fish.... Channel cat, spotted sea trout and blue fish. It was one hell of a day.
