The reason this channel does so good is that Richard fishes in nothing but a basic rig whether boat or kayak. No mega buck tackle, fish finders, or three lure boxes full of anything and everything. Just fish sense and attention to details.

The average, or below average where I'm concerned, guy can take what he learns from Richard and apply it right away without a 40k bass boat!! That's partially what drew me to his videos, I have a very similar aluminum boat to his Alweld. He's awesome, I love his videos!

One of your best shows. I don't have any insider connections but I did work in film and TV for 30 years and I can tell you that you just need to compile a best of series that has the best moments. It will be a treat for fans and a way for some network executive to get a good idea of why your show needs to be on their network.

Richard Gene, I'd say the reason folks like watching you is because you totally catch fish, but it's more of who and how you are. When you get all worked up with the Woooooo, or the Theeeeyyyy...it's just awesome! I'm a quiet type of guy but that's exactly how I feel when I hook up to a nice fish, I just keep those inside for some reason and you just put them out there for all to see and hear and it's just spectacular!

anybody that still uses a mitchell reel has to be a good fisherman . when I was young we had the 300 when they wore out by another one for $9.00. it was salt water so they didn't last long .Brings back memories of years gone by.

I've been watching fishing shows since I was a kid watching Bill Dance. You are a true sportsman! You are the best promoter of fishing in the country. And you show all types, and you just have fun. So many youngsters think if you aren't shooting a 30 point buck or catching a 10 pound bass it isn't cool Love the way you enjoy even catching your bait! Very awesome! Above all else, thanks for sharing this!

Do not be at all misled by the "Aw, shucks" portrayal here. This is one of the most informative fishing sites on KZbin. Richard Gene really knows his stuff and his explanations are spot on. We all love to see people catch fish, but Richard's a literal teacher and he imparts meaningful information in an understandable manner. Every video I watch has some little tip that's different from similar videos and I love that.

Richard I love it that you got a kayak! I have been fishing with one for about 6 years now and I also have a boat. Kayaks open up a lot more places to fish in that you could not get to any other way. Love your channel and the way you show that fishing is more about knowledge and skill then it is about 80 thousand dollar bass boat and 100 thousand dollars in tackle.

If you install an Anchor Trolly on that kayak you can anchor off the front and it will keep in position. I point the front end toward where I'm going to fish and it holds me in place once I locate a good fishing spot. With an Anchor Trolly you anchor off the front or back while sitting, this is especially helpful on breezy days. I had a problem with drifting and had to paddle to reposition and in doing so I would spook fish. Those kayaks are so light it takes the slightness little breeze to get you off position. And as always go fishin when ya can cause it's good fur ya!!!

Thank you for making these videos and sharing them with all of us. I love to fish, but don't get to do it as much as I would like. You always make me laugh at some of the antics that you do. I used to have a fishing and hunting buddy that was like Elmo, but Jesus called him home 10 years ago. I sure do miss him, but your videos kind of make the old memories come back. Keep on catching all those fish and making people happy.

Richard, get a retractable dog leash and an 18 piece of large galvanized chain to run through your front or back handle and it will serve as a drag anchor to hold you in a fishing area, pull it in when you are ready to move. helps in current or wind.

Absolutely enjoy your fishin! Really like the kayak fishin too, I have a bay boat and a kayak and like the yak just as much as the boat, so quiet out there in the yak and do catch fish in it! A TIP, when getting in or out of your kayak, have it parallel to the back, so when u step in it it bottoms out and is stabil! Then when u set, just lean or rock towards the river or lake using the paddle and push off!!!! Much easier gettin in and out!

I love the intensity you bring to the sport. weve been trying to fish for catfish here in Missouri and the areas closet to us mainly only have the channel catfish and not the blues that I prefer up at Truman lake were going there soon but we've been getting into some huge channel catfish for us and you are acually due the credit for getting us back into the fishing together and I sent him some links to the videos of yours and it lit a fire under him also and we have been fishing every day he can get off were trying to get some good knowledge from you passing it down to us and we are picking up some of it and adjusting trying to find bigger and more fish and you are a very good mannored person that delivers easily humongous knowledge that is very appreciated and I think you sir for letting us know about the things that you have learned during your hard work out in the waters. But I personally enjoy the videos of the different catfish species and learning how to find out where the different types of fish will be in different styles of lake's were hoping to get on the flathead and blue's and not only the channel catfish keep the videos coming maybe we can do it with your help thanks again my friend from the other lake around the corner lol
