Bloody hell I used to go out there in the 1960's early 1970's and caught bugger all. Freeze your arse off, get wind burn and a cold and come home empty handed. Looks like fishing there has improved substantially. Good on yer mate.

Ray's bream, there were dozens getting stranded on beaches for a while when they chased tiny shrimp in at low tide. Caught heaps with a net in ankle deep water.

Yes it was around that time they were smashing lures, lots on the beach, crazy to see!

Hi Flynn, very nice video and I like it a lot! I am also an Otago Uni student who just started fishing a year ago to release the stress from studies (especially for postgrad like myself). If you are still in dunners and want to catch some crays on rod n reels, please tag me along, I have caught numerous crays with my mates at Port Chalmers using squid n cuda as bait.

Cheers brother Thankyou, I would love to bro but finished study last year and am now based in Auckland. All the best with it bro, I’ve heard stories of the crays on rods around port chalmers. Sounds epic!!

Careful with the drone out at the end of the mole, its within the 1000m no fly zone around the albatross colony on Tairoa Head!

Nice vid and commentary cuzzie. Went out with some mates off the turrets over at harrington point a few months back and couldn’t help but catch the rays bream eh. Pulled in 20+ of them within an hour. Wish I knew at the time they were mean eating. Only held onto a few 😂
