Offshore Kayak fishing for big fish in the trench on jerseys north coast -
For this video I ventured out with my friend Adrian to drop some big baits down in some deep water.
This video is ideal for beginners that are looking to learn how to kayak fish.
This was a good opportunity to get rid of some of the old refrozen bait I had in my new freezer, after my last freezer unfortunately packed up
Situated about 1.5 - 2 miles off the North coast of Jersey is a huge trench which drops off from around 80ft to around 140ft in some areas.
This is where we thought we might find some good sized fish on the larger baits.

hi bud I’m using ugly stick boat rods 12-20lbs Shimano charter special loaded with 50lbs braid and a 9ft 80lbs leader.

Great video. Need more like this. Do you wonder if the conger eel you caught with its tail missing could it of been the one you had 1st with the rope on its tail?

I think that there would have been a lot of fish down there competing for the bait. The tope sometimes follow up a bait of a fish to have a swipe but I haven’t seen one stalk a hooked fish like this before. usually it comes up has a quick swipe and goes back down to the depths. Just found your channel and loving the videos. I seen your Tope rig on another video but wondering what rating rod and main line do you use, it has alot more lifting power than your buddies. My heaviest rod is 12-20lbs and I am thinking of adding to the collection for heavier fish.

Thanks for checking out the channel matey. So I usually use a 12-20lbs ugly stick for my offshore fishing it’s pretty fun to use on the Tope and still light enough to catch bream also which I like to do for fresh bait whilst anchored up. I also sometimes use a 20-30 lbs ugly stick rod. I use this when I’m fishing a slightly bigger tide requiring more lead. The main line I use on my reels for this sort of fishing is spider wire 56lbs. Also a 15ft 60-80lbs leader. I hope that helps bud.

I’d say I was over dressed for the occasion mate. although my gear is breathable and pretty comfortable to wear when it’s hot. I’d love to wear shorts but the risk of sunburn and Tope rash puts me completely off! thanks for watching bud

Hi buddy glad you enjoyed it. The power pack is for my bixpy motor it’s the battery you can see in the back. I just put a few stickers on it to make it less boring to look at… lol Thanks for watching it’s much appreciated!
