Fishing for Jacks and Smacks at Surfside Jetty/ Freeport, TX 4/19

After seeing a lot of posts on social media of local anglers catching Jack Crevelles, I had to go make time to go catch one myself. Decided to go to the jetties in Surfside TX and they were everywhere! The lures we threw were silver spoons (1 ounce and 2-3 ounce spoons). At the end of the day we caught 3 jacks and 5 Spanish mackeral!

I'm curious to that jack fish that you kept and if you cooked it and if so how did you cook it on the grill in the oven or fry it and then how did it taste was it pretty good I've never done one if you said it was okay I'll try it next time but if you said it wasn't any good I'll just catch and release only appreciate the video looks like y'all had a ball that day keep a tight line

South from Texas actually it tasted really good, drained as blood as I can over the course of three days in ice, was chopped up first and then put it in a cooler of ice and drained all the blood periodically and kept adding more ice, then on the third day breaded it and fried it, tasted really good. Dark meat but good, no fish smell at all
