Fishing for Monster Kokanee at Flaming Gorge

I fished Flaming Gorge at Dutch John Utah by the dam over 25-yrs ago and S L A Y E D them. These are a BIGGEST Koke's that I have ever hooked. I was at a huge disadvantage without downriggers, I had to use (4)oz weights in front of the " OLD " standby Ford Fenders and Weddings either RED or Green and a small piece of worm. It felt like you were dragging a garbage can lid. Today I have (4) electric Scotty's, and only use Arrow Flash and hoochies. The least drag possible. ;-) Getting back to my story. The Mac's are also HUGE, and were focused on Trout for the first couple of days. Catching 80 - 100 daily all R E L E A S E D!!! We didn't know about the Koke's, until a local told/showed us. Being that we came from Gresham Oregon, out of State anglers PAY a huge price to enjoy this fishery. I can stay it's W O R T H every penny. I mean $$$$$$$$$ Dollars.... Hahahaha. Tight Lines. This is a BUCKET LIST for every Koke fisherman.

I love fishing Flaming Gorge. Pretty disappointed you guys handling and releasing kokanee in mid June. What was the water temperature?

Sorry you are so disappointed. With water temps in the 50s they did just fine. We put them back so you could go catch them.
