In this video, we break a personal best bluegill TWICE in about 10 minutes! These bluegill are truly the fish of a lifetime!
We were using two pound test, and a KastKing rod and reel combo.
Check out the rod and reel here:
Reel: amzn.to/2mZ8cm5
Rod: amzn.to/2v7QnFR
Congratulations to Brandon on catching these incredible fish!
Thanks for watching, please LIKE for more bluegill videos!

Those are monster coppers! Yes, fish of a lifetime. I have encountered fish of that caliber in only three bodies of water in my lifetime...N Carolina and two private ponds in central Maryland. Gills, hybrids and any 12-inch class sunfish are comparable to 13 lb largemouths, 7 pound smallies or 50-inch plus muskies. That is indeed a unique, and treasured, fishery there! Congrats!

Thanks Jim! Interesting that most ponds can grow bass of all sizes, but very few ponds can grow gills of all sizes. I spent some time at this fishery yesterday, and did not get one bite. Strange.

I used to fish a place just south of Memphis Tennessee called "Tunics Cutoff" in northern Mississippi. It's literally an old CUTOFF riverrun of The Mississippi River. It was loaded full of bluegills similar in size to these. I'm 63 years old now. I have fond memories of those days and that place. Thanks for the video!

@TyPigPatrol
@TyPigPatrol 5 жыл бұрын
The best thing to do is take very exact girth and length measurements, and a ton of close up photos of colors and shapes of the fish. A good taxidermist can make a replica and go right off the shape and colors of your fish. Check out Lawrence Taxidermy on FB for some incredible replicas. People often argue that its not real because its not the same fish, but in all reality a skin mount is pretty much only the skin of your fish, the taxidermist still has to make the shape of the fish out of wood or foam, and then they paint the skin just like they would on a replica. IMO a replica last longer, looks better, and your genetically superior fish is back in the water, passing on its genes...Sorry for the long winded response.

wow, that is the only word i can get out of my fingers. wow... You said a pound and a half, 11 inches? I have nothing i can compare that too. I cant picture it. Just incase you haven't looked it up the state record Texas blugill is 2.02 pounds,12.5 inch. You might want to take the time to actually lay one of those gills on a tape to see how close you are. I think in a year or two you might have a record! great video man!
@TyPigPatrol
@TyPigPatrol 5 жыл бұрын
Were not really sure how big that sucker was. you are right, ive GOTTA start bringing a tape with me. the interesting thing is, that fish was in flawless condition, meaning it was likely a 5-6 year old bluegill, it could have another year or two of growing before it starts losing weight. If we can catch that same fish next spring, or next winter it could be a SR. Or better yet, we will just catch a different fish bigger lol. I am in disbelief that the SR Texas bluegill is only that small. Hold my beer.....im gonna try my hardest to break that sucker! I doubt I can break 12.5 inches, but the 2.02 lbs seems more feasible.
