I have a little tip for you and your dad knows it to. On your frog if you bend the hooks out slightly and up slightly it will make a better hookup and the bass won't spit it out as often

Would be nice to be where you are, there is literally very little fishing from shore areas near me. I do fish Florida a lot, coming back down to Okeechobee and hopefully headwaters this year. Haven't fished headwaters yet, but excited!! I will be in a boat though! 😉

When your frog hooks are too small and you dont have bigger ones to switch out to grab some pliers and bend the hooks up a little bit and it will improve the hookset.

I was looking back at Kelly Galloup, his fly tying classes. And his lure 'The G Mouse'. Was one of the designs he came up with for fishing nights for browns and small mouth bass in Michigan. This pond water here, I think would be an interesting location to try fly fishing for bass. That area of the world is really spoiled for a lot of choice of water. And it's something that younger anglers I think should invest time into. Learning is different in fly tying, because one gets to see one's own creations and how they fish. The color that Kelly used in the tutorial was a black color (for night time). However, another color for day time would be interesting. If one was willing to take time to learn on the fly fishing side. It has that one advantage, of where one can innovate in terms of one's own designs and conceptions. It's where the 'thought process' side of it, really comes in.
