Fish caught using Black Lugworm but noting caught using Mackerel Squid combo on this day 4th October 2023.
This 3 hour fishing session fishing from the beach with just one rod was an enjoyable fishing session and fish were caught even though conditions was a bit hit and miss, slightly murky water and a mild chop on the water. The weather was dry and warm most of the time but a chill came on towards the end of the fishing session.
I had a great bite, picked up the rod and teased the tension on the line waiting and feeling for the next tug. Sometimes being patient with this type of bite pays off but on this occasion it was just a quick bite and then nothing further with that particular bite, I reckon the fish got spooked and went away. It could of been a Sea Bass pecking at the bait and might of felt the hook which caused it to run, we can't catch them all albeit we do try hence the patients when looking to strike.
The small rod rattle ended up being a Pouting of small size, there was no need to strike in to this fish as it was already hooked, I know this because after the rattle I picked up the rod and felt the rattle again as I took up the tension, I could also feel the weight once I started to reel in. Just as I had landed the fish a young couple came along to take a look and whilst I was talking to them the fish lept from my hand but I was able to catch it (one handed) before it hit the ground, a very lucky catch.
Approximately 40 minutes later another rattle on the rod tip, this was a smaller rattle than the first with the Pouting but I did think it would be another Pouting, it turned out to be a small Whiting.
Not the best catches but at least I caught but more importantly, I was out in the fresh air sea fishing and enjoying myself.
Sea fishing to me is a wonderful pleasure sport and I really enjoy it, I have lots more video footage sea fishing from the beach of which I will upload sporadically for viewers to watch.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and please consider clicking the thumbs up button under the video screen and if possible leaving a comment in the comments section below the video screen, even it it's just to say hello.
Thank you again.
