The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

Dude I was just talking about this with my mates, you hit the nail on the head!! I think it was too early for people to see this from us, they didn't know the passion we had for fishing and the sea. This is literally our lives and what comes with rock fishing and what we take the to the end... And they were a few times in the past that I did things that people would called me crazy, but i was so focused in the fight. Is that moment that everything arounds you, dissapear. I've surfed and rock fished since I was a grom (nearly 30yrs) and some of the stuff you guys do has me a bit sketched out at times but its so hard to judge it on gopro footage I always figure you guys have assessed it and reckon it's alright. Hey Cavy...greetings from Peru... I didn't watched this vid before.. what an experience!!!. the waves took you away easily. I had this kind of situation twice in my life, but with waves higher than me. They were huge and strong!!. Fortunately I was using gloves (you didn't) and they permit me to grab to rocks. Since then, every time I go to the rock points it is a must to wear gloves. By the way, given that the water is very cold here, I wear a wader... maybe if the waves took me away would be difficult to fight against the current and waves like you did!!!. At the end, it's fine to laugh after the crisis. You guys were very brave!!! ..... Great vid !!!

In my experiences dealing with big sets and rocks in Hawaii fishing both with poles and spearfishing it's best to drop the pole or gun and drop tight to the rock and hug on it for dear life while holding your breath till the surge passes then get up breathe again and repeat till safe to exit the area. This has saved my life more than a couple times and kept me way less banged up.

That was heavy to watch, ive had my fair share of close calls too with both fishing and freedive spearfishing with a speargun. Glad you boys lived to fish another day and went home to your families and friends alive and in one piece kind of lol.. This brought back memories of one day me and my pops was going after GT or as we call it here in hawaii ulua. We were fishing in kona on the west side of the big island of hawaii and i remember my dad getting caught by a good sized wave and it swept him off his feet and so now the water is receding and is about to pull my dad towards the drop off where he wouldve got messed up bad from the rocks below had i not ditched my pole😂 and ran and grab hold of my dad until he could get to his feet i believe things could have turned out alot different that day. My dad passed away many years later from health complications R.I.P old man.. Life is a beach🌴😎Peace to all be safe out there, be aware and lets continue to live the dream!✌❤☀🏄 🚤🎣👪

Holy S#!/, Cavy... that was the scariest thing I've ever seen and I've been in a fatal car crash and a burning building. I can honestly say I won't have the stomach to watch that again - I think I held my breath the entire time this played! If this video doesn't send chills down people's spines, then they need to check their own pulse, lol!!! On the upside, at least the water would have washed away the evidence of crapping ones self!
