I'm going to New Orleans in a couple weeks. Gonna spend one day on grand isle, looking for tips on fishing down there, not expecting honeyholes just hoping to cast the flyrod one of the mornings. And really hope to catch a speckled trout. Can you just fish anywhere along highway 1? looking at the plus the point of grand isle where they have all those sea brakes on the south side of the island. Info will be appreciated. Nice channel!
@DougieBFishing5 жыл бұрын
MATTHEW VELDERMAN you can fish majority of hwy 1 ...DONT SPEED thru golden meadow .... the fish are in the big holes along the side of the road before you get to the grand isle sign ... the bridges are good too .... ive been catching most of my fish on topwater walking style bait .... whites been a good color
@DougieBFishing5 жыл бұрын
MATTHEW VELDERMAN the sea brakes you’re talking about they may have fish but most of our speckled trout migrate in when we start getting cold weather

@@DougieBFishing Thanks! That's awesome input. Can you suggest good resturaunts or bars on the island? This is a his and hers trip and want it worthwhile for my wife.

MATTHEW VELDERMAN arties sportsbar .... as far as restaurants I really don’t know they’re all the same and most of the time I go down there it’s just to fish so I don’t eat at them ... I would google some look at the ratings

@@DougieBFishing if there's one thing I've learned, it is that most expert fishermen, such as yourself, often don't reveal ALL of their best tips, techniques, and honey spots for fishing. I've been out to Grand Isle on numerous occasions from dusk till dawn. It's been so long since I've caught a fish there that I've forgotten what it feels like to unhook one. I believe the last thing I hooked was a crab. I'm not entirely sure what happened, but something has changed.

Meow Agario you just have to try different stuff the fish are there my friends go catch them all the time you just have to figure it out .... I’m a person who doesn’t give everything away but I’ll point you in the right direction... for example first thing I do is check the weather and whether before hand a few days and I already have a pre mindset of what fish will bite warm weather I work top to bottom if cold or has been cold I work bottom to top .... then bait size type weight color etc ... I always look for high percentage areas current, type of bottom, current lines , work the wind , bait , structure .... it’s just a puzzle and evrytime you go you just have to figure it out
@DougieBFishing5 жыл бұрын
Meow Agario it’s just something that comes with time on the water .

@@DougieBFishing Since the last time I've gone (3 weeks ago), I no longer have that "fisherman's determination" I once had. I have been going out to Grande Isle since I was a little boy. It's quite demoralizing to think that my pops and I drive up there for 2 hours each weekend, buy baits, lunches, pay tolls and ultimately support the community, just to drive back home empty-handed. In a last-ditch effort, I will try once more, come university spring break. That being said, do you happen to know any specific location in Grande Isle that has a somewhat decent probability of delivering a catch? It doesn't have to be a honey-hole, I'm honestly just looking to catch something to bring back to my siblings to cook. Anyways, thanks for the tips, I truly appreciate the time taken.
