Leader advice= 0.90 mm to 1.20 mm in case a big halibut strikes, they grow to well over 300 kilo so you need to be prepared even if its rare to car\tch them over 100 kilo most places.

Thanks for your comment. We use 1,20 mm leader. You are right. It is always possible to catch a very big fish. Best regards from Austria - Werner. 👍😃

No the fish doesent have to be at the bottom, both cod, halibut and zeelaks can move pelagig in the watercolumn hunting various types of baitfish. It might be 400 m deep but the fu\ish stay at only 30 m etc.

The big coalfish are very hard to find for us. We know that there are swimming in different depths, but we weren't lucky to find them. Maybe the next time. Best regards - Werner.

Good tip for Halibut, they do NOT like big movement on the bait or jig, small slow movements up to maybe 50 cm and often stop and hold the rod still is good then every now and then u let the jig slam the bottom 3-5 times before slowly reeling it up 3-5 meter, wait maybe 30 sec, then reel up 3-5 meter more and slowly do small slow jerks with the rod. Let the jig down the same way and then stay near the botton a few min before repeating the movement upwards in the water. Rinse and repeat:)

There is almost never too much wind to go fishing, the halibuts live between the islands often in VERY shallow water from basicly NO water and u can sight fish for them and down. I normally fish 5-30 m depth for halibut but i have caught a 10 kilo halibut in 60 cm of water with a 130 g Storm jig and also scared deacent size halibut 50-60-70 kilo walking on sandflats with waders while flyfishing for Seatrout. So dont stay on land unless it's a proper norwegian storm but sneak in the narrows between the islands:)

If you come back to Norway i have one specific advice, dont lift the rod tip so high (called highsticking) because the pressure on the tip of the rod with a big fish will often result in a broken tip...Exept that. good video:)
