Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could kzbin.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.

DEEP CREEK!!!!! OMG!! I grew up going to DC!!!!! Nothing but the big lake a couple of camping spots, a volleyball court and a basketball court. That was really long time ago. Thanks for the memories!!!!!

I've only been fishing a few months now, just since finding out I had cancer and was looking for something to take my mind off of things, and of all the fishing channels I've watched, they never zoomed in close enough to see how to rig it. It seems every time I try to rig one up I have a very awkward bend in the worm and NEVER catch anything. I'm only a few hours from western Maryland, in Virginia, so with the cold temps, it seems like that is one of only a few options if I really want to catch anything.

The deeper the water is will always freeze before the shallow, due to how far the bottom is from the surface.

Actually, deeper waters freeze last because it holds more heat. A big factor with water freezing has to do with the wind. Thats why some lakes never freeze all the way through. They hold a lot of heat and the surface freezes because its affected more by the wind and lower temperatures.

It also depends on the amount of exposure to the sun. Shaded areas will form ice faster than those with more daily sun exposure.

I think it takes longer for the shallows to freeze since the sun reaches the dark bottom which warms the water just a little that also applies to spring since the shallows warm up first but it’s more for ponds then lakes
