Caught my first bowfin, about 6 lbs, in Dunnellon, Fl, the greatest feeling cause all we were catching all morning was needlefish.

Hell yeah man, first video of yours I’ve seen and I’m all about it. I fish the same way a lot! Got the same mentality as well. I’m a largemouth guy but last year accidentally hit a bowfin on a crank bait in southern IL and it was a blast. I’ve been lookin up more about them just recently cause it was a blast. They’re a great fight. . Loved the video, glad I came across your channel!

I was using a popper because the creek was flooded and very muddy, and I thought it was a gar too but it was a chain pickerel! It was my first catch of a pike. They're the biggest ones where I live in Georgia(no Northern pike here sadly).

I fish for Bowfin in Fla . Definitely don't get the respect they deserve . Pound for pound they out fight any bass I've ever caught . They do wreck a lot of lures as I only use artificial mostly Rapalas . Tight lines .

I live in South Georgia and the ones that I've seen have been caught and killed. What exactly are they good for?
@stevebrown35594 жыл бұрын
Pound for pound, they really are the best fighters of any freshwater fish. Even a four or five pounder will get your heart pumping! The thing to remember is that not only are they are a native fish, but they were here long before any bass, bluegill, catfish etc. They are an important part of the ecosystem, and should not just be caught and killed.
@johnsonlane45714 жыл бұрын
good for eating any smaller fishes and scavenging there's no point wasting time catching bream for bait just use a glob of chicken liver catch mudfish all day long they get way bigger than these too

LippinBassTV you know what you right it is the snake head not the bowfin look always teaching me something lol 😂

😂 love it man!!! Glad I can help so now u can catch them!!!
@jaaeelwatson32583 жыл бұрын
You have to keep them alive. If you let them die the meat get mushy n you only can make patties and balls. But I love catching Bowfin we call them Choupic on Louisiana. I love the fight they put up. They are also some smart fish.
