Fishing on the blood moon. As always GP tells it as it is and this time he is out on a local River still trying to work out where the fish are...and he doubles up his effort by going twice,to different areas in his quest for some rod-bending action...but he gets a good shot of the "Blood Moon" once it gets dark. Will it be an omen of good fishing?? Then it’s into the Random section for a Tackle Up talk from Grant , and finally a bit of Country stuff to get you relaxed...Enjoy!

I have had some great blanks. Ireland sea trout and salmon fishing Sea Otters in swim no chance of catching but the sight was awesome . Back in uk heron sitting like a statue then woosh he got his prize. Sparrow Hawks diving into the trees, Kestrels and Buzzards patrolling the fields . All sights i have seen when the fishing is slow. We all want to catch fish but sometimes that blank opens your eye's to other things going on around you .

Dear Graeme- I’m sorry to hear that we are in the same page- I thought an older more established government would have cleaned the refuse out of the parliamentary workings of your country! My condolences to you- I guess we both have an excess of fish bait!! Keep the “great “ videos coming!! And Happy New Year to your misses and daughter!!- only -45 degrees today!!

No flipper gives a flying flip if you blank.( observe how I changed some words there)..it's just you we are all here to watch and listen to you, we want to see a blanks as that gives more realism..( but at the same time we don't )... you are the man, man! Spoons are good for getting down deep on a slow retrieve. The job has been taken over to some extent by soft weighted lures like Bulldawgs, but a good spoon is still a fish catcher. My favourite was the Mister Muskie which had just the right casting weight and lazy action, and caught me dozens of pike. It was based on, and superior to, the Efgeeco Piker (made by Paravan of Norway), and a muskie copy is now available as the "Pikerman" spoon. To answer the question, older pike books are full of spoons with a treble on the front split ring, and some came armed with trebles either side the blade, which would have done nothing for the action!

If you need harder baits to stop the crayfish whittling the bait down so quickly, Graeme, buy a small bottle of glycerin from the baking section of the supermarket and glue the boilies in that. The glycerin hardens them up to no end

Blood moon and a Friday night? Hmmm, well listen for the howling, lol, I'm sure there's a lot of crazies out chasing rabbits and howling at the moon, we've got them here, used to be one myself in my younger days! Haha! Too bad about the crawdads, crayfish, I'd be using them for bait, if I could!!

Fishing the waggler yesterday on the Nene, a swim much like the one you gardened, I caught a net of decent Roach and Rudd , small Chubb and Dace on maggets and sweetcorn. A pike was crashing about, even latching onto a good roach that luckily it let go and I landed. But the strangest thing was I caught 3 perch on sweetcorn. I suppose they see the yellow and snatch at it.

I think the powers that be are unaware of the devastating damage these critturs are doing to our waterways. I believe in Florida they have several invasive species now embedded in their natural systems, one of which is the Python ?..I think they are allowed to be culled, and I guess they can eat the meat plus utilise the skins while at least keeping them under control.

I'm told all that will be left after the next war is Keith Richards, and cockroaches. I think we can now add GP's boilies to the list of the post apocalyptic extant... And long after Keef and his insectoid pals have scuttled off home, you'll still find GP fishing some off the beaten track backwater!

I just don't get why there are not loads of fry dimpling the river's surface like it was 40 years ago...And its not just this river, there seems to be a total lack of smaller fish coming on through the river systems.

@@TAFishing That’s the first sign I look for these days before fishing a river, if you can’t see fry in the margins, it’s a sure sign that the river is not as healthy as it should be. What with slurry from farms and sewage from water companies, our rivers are getting worse by the year.

Lack of fish in rivers & steams. Is do to Crayfish , eating the fish eggs. The person who cleaned out the swim 🙏🙏. They should ask for money from the, fish & wildlife. For DOING all of that WORK . .

So what does your, fishing license more pay for. If the rivers & steams, are chocked up with water weed & Crayfish. As I have heard that, you have to PAY for a license to catch Crayfish. What is that money spent ON 🤔🤔🤔🤔

That river bed must be carpeted with crayfish. The fishery need a plan to target and remove them. The fish species populations are obviously in terminal decline.

The big problem with crayfish in your waters is no natural predators. Here in the states we have largemouth, spotted, and smallmouth bass, as well as gar and bowfin that keep the crayfish in check. All you can do is trap them and put them in a crayfish boil!
