Hi guys! On my channel I told you a lot about my hometown, Spassk, located in Primorsky Krai in the very South-East of Russia. Well, now let's explore the nearby area and visit the village of Novosel'skoye! There we will also see the Khanka lake, divided between Russia and China. What strikes me the most is how close this place to the China is. The province of Heilongjiang is just across the border, and it's interesting to think how this influences the life of people here. In this video I will tell you about how I perceived the Russian culture, living on the border of two countries.
Every summer my family comes to Novosel'skoye for fishing, and this time I decided to save these moments in the vlog. For us it's not really fishing but rather outing with tasty food in the peaceful athmosphere, and you can tell that by the little amount of fish we got :D But even though my catch wasn't that successful, I am still glad because that day I made friends with local cats, cows and fishermen who showed me their catch, and even stumbled upon the territory of Khanka Nature Reserve that I didn't excpect to see so close to the village.
I hope you enjoyed this video! Like this video, write your comment and subscribe to my channel! Thank you for all the support that you showed me on my latest live stream, I am energized by having such a lovely audience, and I will definitely keep developing my channel! Stay tuned :D

Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoyed this video. A question: when I said “Have a good catch”, the man answered “I wish you no tail, no scales”, meaning the opposite, similar to “Break a leg!” in English. When I was writing the captions, I didn’t find an equivalent to this phrase. Can you share under this comment, what phrases do you usually say in English when you want to wish good luck to a fisherman? (And in other languages too). And another question: how do I ask a person about whether the fishing is successful today? In Russian we say “How is the biting today” - do you say it in English too?
@LarryKapp1

Fishing - same here " Are they biting?" or maybe just " Are you catching anything ? " I thought that no scales comment had to do with him catching an eel which has no scales - ha ha . Probably would just say " Good luck !"

In English, we would say "How is the fishing today?" or "Have you caught anything today?". The fisherman might reply, "The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad." For the first part of the question, I guess it would just be a simple "Have a good time fishing" or "Good luck fishing today".

I am a massive fan of Natasha and I have additionally been making videos regarding life in Russia for 4 years however without the success that Natasha has encountered. In fact I would certainly say that she is a youtube sensation. Her channel has expanded so rapidly. Is it possible for you to watch my video and also tell me what it is that you do not like and what I can do to improve? I have over 200 videos on my channel and also I am thinking about quitting creating content since I do not obtain several views and as it is extremely discouraging for me. Same thing all over Russia. Sadly. Villages are in in dire straits. This one looks almost identical to my aunt's village in Kurgan Oblast. Even though they're a few thousand km apart. This is an EXCELLENT video, very peaceful and calming. I was able to find the village on Google Earth, with your help, and locate and follow your "walk about" quite easy in the NW part of town. The inclusion of so many little things, like the flower garden inside the open gate, along with the calm, peaceful "talk along" while you walk make this video TOP QUALITY. This was a amazing visit to a picturesque sleepy little "has been" village that we in the urban centers on the other side of the world never get to experience. @@SamsRussianAdventures Hi Sam, I've watched a number of your videos and they are very good, I find video's of not only Russia and China very interesting, but all over the world there are incredible 4K (as clear as being there) videos of anything you could ever dream of seeing and along with Google Earth, it's better than anything I could have imagined decades ago, being a long time "map junkie". I believe Natasha's success has a lot to do with her young, discovering, "sharing from her heart" feelings about what she sees and experiences. It's not possible for corporate media to convey the same genuineness and even for older, more mature people like ourselves, we can only show and describe in our more experienced manner...One thing about your videos that I really liked is how you just "shut up" and let the people talk, that's "real class" compared to "reporters" who only want to hear themselves and don't even listen to what their subjects are saying...keep up the good work, people like Natasha are rare, natural talents...another one I really like is Maria of "Life in Yakutia", Cheers...

Thank you for this! Long ago in the Great Patriotic War the Russian people defeated Hitler when I was a child. My father visited Moscow and Peters-burg in the early 1960s and never forgot his trip there. Russian novels always inspired me and I wish all people had had a better chance to know one another better. I'm old now but perhaps my own wonderful daughter will do some of the things that I wish I'd dome. Spasiba!

Hi Natasha. The sky is hugh, stretching from low horizon to low horizon. There are no high landmarks. The sky is like a canvas on this video. There are many different shades of blue, grey and turquoise which may explain the predominant choice of colour for the man made structures. These are contrasted with emerald green foliage, darker grey waters and dusty metal roads with the odd animals thrown in to complete the rustic charm. Thanks for le tour.

@@John-gv2ug What I mean is, we didn't see anything that we hadn't seen before in other places in the world. But it's Natasha's way of showing these things to us that makes it special, not so much the place it's self. Did you think that the place was incredibly special or different to anything you had sen in your life? To me it looked like 1000 villages that I had already seen before, but it was Natasha's point of view which made it interesting.

@@SamsRussianAdventures Not necessarily special but different. Where I live ( south eastern Australia) we don't have "villages", all small settlements are called "towns", even if there are only a few people living there (I lived for a year in a place with less than 100 people but it was still called a town) and they don't look like this place. The landscape is very different to where I live and where I have been (western Europe, Malta, USA, Morocco, Egypt, New Zealand, Fiji), so, for me, it was new.

The photo of you as a young girl fishing is so sweet!! I hope your childhood was one of happiness and only fond memories!! My grandparents lived in a very rural area and had no indoor plumbing until I was around 10 years old. Even then, there was no hot water and taking a bath required heating water on the stove to add to the cold water in the tub. They had a well right outside their old wooden house but I recall going into the small town with my grandfather to fill up huge barrels from a metered pump that took quarters (25 cents) for a large number of gallons of water. Although many conveniences were not available, I spent many weekends during school months and almost all summer staying at my grandparent's house. Those were some of the best times of my life!!
