** FIRST EPISODE FOR 2023 - SEASON #7 **
Since the Elusive Arapaima Monster missions have been taking so long, I have decided to take a break and do the fishing I love best... Catfishing!
Oval Island is located in the eastern portion of Maku Maku lake. It can be accessed without a boat and is prime fishing territory for every species of catfish found on this map. If you want to fill your net, gain some quick XP and cash, this is the place to go! I would suggest bringing the following:
- 2 to 4 heavy bottom rods and reels
- plenty of smelly, meaty baits
- plenty of large hooks at least #6/0 or bigger
In this episode, we will not only fishing for catfish at night, but also using the boat to fish some of the hard-to-reach catfish holes that inhabit the lakes terrain!

Happy New Year to you, family and viewers. I have found that if you clip the line once you have the sinker where you want it on the rod you are holding, the distance goes to full value with a bite (i.e. from 50ft to 328ft), which is also another good indicator, especially for smaller fish.

The reason why it doesn't give you depths at times us because you reeling in and letting line out before your bait touches the bottom . The minute you touch your reel while your bait is sinking it won't give you the depth

Hawkeye I have some tips for maku maku so if you go to the arapaima spot at the little rivulet get 5 rods 3 bottom 1 float and 1 lure rod (can be spinning or casting) you get arapaima more effiencly and there is catfish there too
