I was fishing it like an actual crankbait but thought it must be wrong since there is no luring method under the lure/depth widget. Thanks for this now I know to just keep doing what I was doing.

There are no dots telling us how attractive the lure is? That's why I never used it. I figured I needed some special pole and reel setup.

When I get a bite I set the hook but don’t hook the fish

I’ve found that you have to stop reeling and set the hook then immediately start reeling again. There are also a lot of times where the fish strikes but doesn’t bite so you won’t set the hook then no matter what. It’s like when you float and see the fish circle and hit the bait and see the bobber wiggle but not go under, they tell you to wait for it to go under to set it. It’s like that. Sometimes fish strike the lure but don’t bite, you’ll get the notification anyway. I’m sure there is some little difference between a strike notification and a bite notification but I haven’t found it yet.

I can't set my hook on anything whenever I'm casting out at lone star lake I pull up the second I get a bite but it never sets the hook does anyone know how i do it?

your hook size must be either too big or too small

For texas use the casting spoon 9g 1# for spotted bass or a hook #6 or #4 with bread or red worms for the smaller fish

Yes, the smallest crankbait hook size is too big for spotted bass. As stated already, the 1/3 Oz casting spoon is best for them.
