Fishing Planet: How to fight a big fish

As someone who doesn't fish in real life, this game is so impenetrable without videos like this. Based off other fishing minigames, I took the idea that you were trying to tire the fish out so they wouldn't be able to fight the reel. So when they were running, I'd be fighting them thinking it'd put more strain on them, and tire them out so I could reel them in a bit.

Dude i wish i watched this earlier. I hooked into a monster cat he ran me out over 200. Fought for about 45 min. Had him at 80 feet. Reel broke.

Oh god. I was in the Everglades today and I had probably a trophy size red drum on my line. I wasn’t prepped for a fish that size, I only had 10 lb test, and a reel that could only handle 9.5 lbs of drag. I fought that fish for well over an hour and I ended up getting spooled at 405 ft. Was pretty frustrating....

You know, its funny that i had to look up this video at all. Trying to catch the small mouth buffalo at lonestar (im level 5, only have basic equipment) but keep snapping the leader. Well i decided i needed to learn how to fight the fish, look up this video and laughed to myself. Ive started fishing with my buddy recently, im not a beginner in the sense that i couldnt set my own equipment up and use it, i simply never caught a fish or knew what rigs to use. I did know how to fight one though, my uncle taught me years ago. Well i caught a tiny bullhead in my local river, was pretty stoked even though it was the size of a kitten. My first cast after that i felt a real bite and yanked that rod HARD. Buddy was suprised it didnt snap, fought it EXACTLY how you and my uncle taught and pulled up a 30-35 inch channel cat (rough estimation using my shoe for reference, id put my bet on 33). I still watched to the end though, wanted to high five you when i saw the unique striped you pulled. Awesome video man

I was on a sturgeon for a 1 hour straight it kept getting close then just ran my setups suck man and i just cut the line because i didnt have patience to reel it back in from 350 ft away and better rods for 30 50 + fish?

It might be your gear. You can't catch a shark on a microcast. This guide can help if it's at least within a moderate range of what you're fishing for.

Don't waste money on upgrading stuff until you're at least level 10 and don't bother traveling until you have at least 30k and watch the video for mudwater river beginners guide before you go and pack your backpack accordingly. Dont bother with the catfish until you have a decent size keepnet or you wont be able to bank on them, only xp for catching them. The big money is in the chain pickerels and trophy grass pickerels. Bring lots of minnows, chubby bobber, and your gold and silver spoons, #1, #1/0 and #2/0 hooks Don't worry about how many days to go for, just go for one, buy your advanced license, and at the end of the day it will ask you if you want to stay and it'll cost only the lower amount not the full travel cost. That way if you're there day one and realize you need something the store there doesn't have because only your home store has everything, you only spent the money for 1 day. you pulling too fast then, you just keep steady pressure, and only pull when the reel gauge is low but line tension is high

Tension is when you have your line tight, the gagues on the right are line, rod, reel from left to right, tension on the line should remain constant, while the reel and rod are how you play the fish.

I wish you could explain it using the PS4 controller. I fought and lost two big fish! One for twenty minutes and the other one for fourth five minutes when that 45 min one ran out my entire line of 345 feet! I had him in to 30 feet at one point. So frustrating!

Well you would simply use what ever button does what, like your rod lift button that you use to move lures would be the pull back button, the joy stick is the mouse tracking, and then simply the reel button. I feel bad for console players, no offense but you have a watered down product, the game looks, feels and plays so much better on PC. But I am a bit bias. Hope this helps.

the best way I know how, is to add each other in game, then make a new room for friends on the map you want to fish, it's a little wonky and sometimes might take going in public then switching to a private room either you or your friend make. Also it does not work cross platform, PC players can only group with PC players, PS4 can only group with PS4 players.

make sure you are creating a new friend's only room, not a private one.

Theres one problem with this, if you dont have a fast enough reel, youll put to much slack on the line and can lose it

I've never done that unless they shortline me, which is to rush me mid pull, if that happens you can have a jet engine on your reel, and it won't matter.

This why I love my bait caster 7.5 reel ratio not the fastest but it works great! Cool video
