I hit X-Mas Bay during the week days after June. I go thru the boyou towards the pass & limit out on Reds every time out. Bunch of small flatty's on plastics. Live finger mullet is the key. We had plastic throwers drift right in front of us a lot & nothing but we were always hooked up. It's dirty around here now since this storm last night, 4/21. I'm talking about fishing 2' to 5' deep guts around Cold Pass from the grass line. While the bite was on we tried spoons, Gulps, VooDoo Shrimp & every plastic you could think of but nothing. Slap a live finger mullet on & you can't count to 10sec before you had a keeper Red on. You took the same route we take. Gets a little shallow even for our Old Town pdl 120 Salty's. 🤟

Yes sir! Live mullet rocks out there, if it slows up I would cut the mullet not completely in half but just enough where I cut hook the nose and bend it and hook the tail too. I used to toss the cast net a lot and catch live mullet before I would launch. It's been awhile but maybe I should try it again just for fun. It's just a slow way to fish, these days I prefer to stay moving and casting LOL.

Great video! Going to Seawolf park this weekend! Even if they don’t bite it’s still a nice time on the water

I got stuck in that same area where you took that dip with your hip waders on my Solo Skiff. But man, that was a hell of a workout pushing out w/ my push pole. I won't go there again lol! Great video. Thank you

A bad day fishing is still a day on the water though. Thanks for the update. Still looking forward to hitting the jetties and surf the last weekend this month. Maybe we'll catch each other hookin' up.

Thanks Ruben, for all the information. Always great content. I'll be down the week of July 4th. ...I'm definitely going to need a fishing report. Staying near Surfside, probably mostly wading....maybe we can get together for a trip...

When do you think the surf trout fishing will be going full swing?
@TexasAllWaterFishing Жыл бұрын
Every year it’s a little different. We didn’t have much of a winter & the sheepshead started to move out a couple weeks soon this year than last year so wouldn’t be surprised that the trout start being caught early too. Monday evening the surf cleaned up in the afternoon & that night they caught some nice plus 20s off the pier. But typically you’ll start seeing the late May into June…but as soon as we get some clean water again I’m going to fish for them, I bet they’ll be there 🤙🏼
