That sort of rig is used in Asia for filter feeding asian carp species. Try using a bottom method feeder with a hair rig. That's by far the best method for catching common carp and smallmouth buffalo, as they mainly feed off the bottom, and the bolt rig system is best for hooking them.

My local creek,has the absolute easiest method of carp fishing,and the creek is loaded with carp from 5-40 pound carp.. A number four hook,and corn...Find any water breaks, spillways or soft holes,drop it in and get ready.. My best 90 minute fishing session handed me 9 fish..But I only fish for short stretches,but this creek is guaranteed for carp...
