SC has some pretty good stream. Middle Saluda is a nice one there. Had a Ranger to tell me that the trout were about 4-8in and what do ya know, first cast and got a 16in rainbow. This is a wild stream and the Ranger was dumbfounded. Also, when fishing for brookies this time of year, be careful wading the water. Their eggs are still in the redds and will hatch in a few weeks and the fry will stay there until their sack is gone. NC has the best native streams for brookies. The Smoky Mountains on the Tn side has good brookie streams too! But nothing like catching natives. Can’t wait until late May/early June. That’s when I go after them.

An other awesome video man, browns are awesome to catch, natives and browns are harder to come by nowadays here in NS Canada, but makes it more rewarding, last year my goal was to get a nice brown on a fly but it didn’t happen, so this year I’m gonna try harder for that goal, I’ve got them on baitcasters just not a fly and I can’t Waite for that thrill. How can you tell the difference between a wild brown from a hold over brown? In PA stocked browns have orange spots that turn red after six months or so
@hardmanfishing3 жыл бұрын
It has more to do with the fins than the colors, although that is typically a good indicator as well. Usually hold overs have rough fins that are torn to shreds but may have the colors of a wild fish. It is something you learn overtime. Also you can tell a lot about what a fish likely is based on the body of water you are fishing.
@joenewmeyer77113 жыл бұрын

@hardmanfishing3 жыл бұрын
Well we used 3 different rods in this video.... so I'm not sure which one you're asking about. The one we used in the smallest creek was a 7'6" 3 wt, the streamer rod was an 8 wt, and the rod that we caught the rainbows on was a 10 foot 3 wt. Although you don't necessarily need a different rod for each one, we just had them already rigged up
