Hey Sammy never be afraid to troll too fast for Wahoo. They are one of the fastest swimming fish in the ocean. I have caught them at 12-15 knots no problem. These guys are SUPER fast!

I hooked a wahoo by a rig out of South pass on the Mississippi river back-in-the-day. The fish ran straight to and past the boat with me trying to catch up. After we landed the fish we estimated that it had run from one leg of the rig to the other in just a few seconds. We used the boat to estimate the distance between the legs and then calculated the speed of the fish. 55 mph (88kph). Turbo mackerel indeed!!

Yes, this checks out. We have a fish here called Cabezon. Very large member of the sculpin family. Very tasty. The ONLY time I catch them? Yes, when retention is closed. And then I usually catch several trying to scratch out a Ling.

What is the reason for all the closures even in the states there closing things down completely I mean you should be able to keep one there should not be a complete closure I always blame it on commercial fishing because the recreational angler can't keep nothing but the commercial fishing is going on full blast there filling every box and hold that they got on the boat I clearly don't understand it

yeah eastern australia closures pretty much most of queensland gets shut down for a month i think twice a year. and also snapper for a month in june/july so they can safely do their taxes.

Do you guys think that QLD fisheries have gone over the top with the Spanish Mackerel restrictions? 1 per person or 2 per boat should be enough to preserve the stocks... The closures are completely over the top considering most of us are working and weather is crap on weekends...
