In this video, I fat shame several fish and a seemingly very hungry man disguised as a stock image attempts to steal my bream. Always an interesting time fishing Perth's Swan River.
Somehow this took twice as long as any other i've made to edit, so I hope you enjoy it.

Nice mate!been looking for a bream fishing spot for a while,I guess I’ll just have to try many different spots to finally catch some,great job on not giving that guy the bream,so they can grow bigger and make more little breams that are gonna grow into stonkers 🎣

thanks mate! 100%, just a case of trying new spots. I used to (and still do) spend hours on google earth looking for different structure, just kind of overlooked the cbd/ East Perth area. Yeah for sure agreed with putting the bream back, have never kept a bream myself. Fan of fresh fish but would rather go to the maccas down the road aha.

Lol that guy was hungry😂. Just found your channel man and enjoyed every vid I've watched so far👌, btw I think I may have come across you the other day on the other side by the bait fishos? (I recognise that combo haha) I was the one lets say "shocked" by the stench of the underpass and let out the "holy f, oh hell no" lounder than it sounded in my head 😂😂😂. You've definitely got the part right about it being a suprisingly healthy environment below the water line for how rank it seems thats for sure 😂, so many chunky bream through that whole area even with all the baito activity (as demonstrated perfectly in this vid haha). Good stuff man enjoying the channel alot so far 🙏🏽, keen to see more. 🤙

haha yeah mate, was an insanely keen fella. I remember you, yeah- definitely made your opinions on the smell pretty clear. Actually realised I recognized you after you left, are you and your brother tidal blues fishing? Wasn't sure at the time. If so, I follow you guys on insta, great work :). And yeah, after persisting for years with fishing for bream downstream, the consistency of that spot is definitely higher than it seems at first glance. Almost like a different fish at times compared to the super smart bream around the yacht clubs I used to fish all the time.

@@LightTackleAnglerWA Haha yea man, lol, the smell of the place hit hard 😂, I know the homeless/junkie population is pretty wild in that area, safe to say I wasn't feeling that spot at all 😂. Shame that was our first encounter haha, awell. How did you end up going anyway? We got a bunch of flathead and tailor at the other (less smelly 😆) bridge as usual but surprisingly not many bream that morning.

@@LightTackleAnglerWA Damn that's super interesting, we fished there from around 8-10am, then a short session again from 5-6pm and didn't get a single bream haha, just goes to show hey this time of year with the fish spawning when a school shows up its on, but if they're too busy doing their business it can be very off.😅 And I totally understand your point earlier about them seeming like different fish from downstream/cleaner water!! I fish Mandurah often particularly around the canals and man it's a completely different game! Significantly smarter fish and they fight just so much harder, swan bream aren't very smart or partially sporting but the sheer numbers at times definitely make up for it when you just want to catch a few fish.
@LightTackleAnglerWA
@LightTackleAnglerWA 8 ай бұрын
@@CoreyHill110 yeah for sure, I guess that's part of the appeal of bream fishing though, never guaranteed- the challenge of it and the fact its never a guaranteed success. Yeah have heard bream down that way fight super hard. Have always overlooked Mandurah actually, very keen for a few trips down this summer to see what I can get stuck into (Not necessarily bream).

Hey dude, just wanted to say I absolutely love your videos and have been trying to use them to teach me how to use lures. Since young I’ve only learnt how to use bait for bream. Would love to see a more in depth video of your setup if that’s important and how to properly work a lure for a noob like myself 😂😂. I’ve purchased a few small minnow lures as recommended by tackle store workers. Casting to structure with a slow retrieval. Haven’t had much success this way tho

hey mate, thanks a lot! No worries, I can go into more detail in an upcoming video! Are you using fluorocarbon leader? Obviously can't know for sure exactly what might be leading to a lack of fish for you at the moment, but I think the most common mistake people make is not using thin fluoro leader- I never really use more than 6lb (usually use 4lb). I also use at least 6 or 7 feet of leader, in fact usually quite a bit more but a rod's length is a good start. Also, rarely use anything heavier than a 1/12th jighead. I sometimes even use 1/28th or even 1/40th on certain lures- but with most plastics, 1/16th is a 'happy medium' i guess. Hope this helps.

thanks mate! I just figured if im spending that much on a rod I want something that'll do a bit of everything. I was also doing a lot of fishing in yacht clubs with mussel vibes at the time so the shorter length and slightly slower taper suited well

7:10 - your so right ! enjoying your up-loads & appreciate your time & keeping it clear ! can you pls do a review on your Millerod V Infeet - your thoughts ? and braid you like using brand ..cheers
@LightTackleAnglerWA
@LightTackleAnglerWA 8 ай бұрын
hey mate, thanks a lot! Both fantastic rods. The main practical difference between the 2 rods is that the millerod can do everything pretty much flawlessly. The 'multi-loading blank' is more than just a marketing term, it really does have a crisp tip which is great for precision and working plastics and jerkbaits, but the rod has a lot of 'give' when you need to keep trebles in (but isnt so flimsy that you have no power). The infeet is fantastic, and If i was just using plastics, there would be a very insignificant difference in the number of fish i'd be able to catch with it. They aren't super stiff like the td blacks so you can use hardbodies and not drop many fish, but probably more than the twitchfreak especially around structure. For a long time I used the regular commercial brands(shimano,daiwa) for braid in 6lb and they did the trick. More recently, I use more premium stuff like Tasline and I just respooled the other day with varivas, both lines in 0.4PE. It's really just a little 1%er but they are a bit smoother to cast and have a higher breaking strain for the diameter. I actually really like the tasline, but it stains in dirty water which isnt great for upriver breaming. In general, once you spend past a certain amount on fishing, the benefit is more to general enjoyment of use, rather than any significant difference in number of fish you're able to catch.

@@trevlin9516 nice to know I've reached the Eastern states aha- very jealous of the freshwater fishing you have over there. Wish the missus had the same idea on the exist aha, maybe one day! Yeah agreed re: high end gear- it's not necessary to catch fish but definitely last longer and does the job that little bit better. I don't talk about my gear too much because I don't want anyone to feel like they need to spend $1000 to catch fish, but am definitely into the more technical sides of fishing gear myself!

I'm definitely a subscriber to the idea of treating bream as solely a sports fish, but often wonder if other species are overlooked in this regard as a result of not having the same tournament scene / reputation. Wrote this comment in a rush so probably makes no sense haha.
