What were your go to lures? spoons, soft plastics, Cajun thunder? FWIW: I have had great luck off Deadman's Key on moving water. Nice drop off along the NE edge but need to be aware , very aware of oyster bars in that area. Also some nice action up the creeks just north of the barge canal entrance. Going south just out of Barge canal can be tricky with all the bars but in a kayak a piece of cake

True, I know the area mostly from kayak fishing it for the last few years. We used mainly the Cajun Thunder on this trip but I have had luck on spoons and soft plastics regularly in this area.

Yes those gnats tear you up good out there. If you venture close to the islands like we did they come out in force and make a quick lunch of you. lol.
