Great vlog as usual Alex . Love to see you fishing with your dad m8. Fishing is pretty crap on the beaches. Had a bit of a chat with hakan about fishing at mersey however he stated not to waste times there as nothing exciting is coming out of there either. It's been an absolutely crap season so far. I've got a ussed Shakespeare rod rest last week and I will probably try it next Monday

If you using one worm on bottom of loop rig , shorten length between hook and cascade , long if wanted on bottom snood but should not tangle, good video though good luck.😅😊

Hi. Love your channel. What size hooks do you use for the cod fishing, best wishes for the New year 🎉
@theawfulangler Жыл бұрын
Thanks, Matt. All depends really. On the holderness, I like 3/0 hooks. Typically you're looking at cod up to the 2lb mark, with occasional better fish, which a 3/0 will manage easily. I've just been up on the Northumberland coast where the stamp of fish is much better and there I was using 6/0 hooks, although the lads I was with were landing them with 9/0 hooks
@mathewmyers2507 Жыл бұрын
@@theawfulangler thank you. I appreciate the advice. Been trying for years in my local beach (Prestatyn). Hopefully this winter will be the one. Good finishing and have a brilliant new year 🎊
@davidnewman1277 Жыл бұрын
Just like to get your opinion on why we are getting Haddock this year ?
@theawfulangler Жыл бұрын
Honestly, no idea. If it were just the holderness I'd query whether the wind farms are creating a favourable habitat. But I know they're being caught all over. It seems like they have shoaled up with the whiting. But what I do know, is if they return next year there could be some really nice sport to be had.
@anthonyjones2465 Жыл бұрын
I used to fish with my brother who would only cast a short distance and he always did better than me. I think you may have been casting over the fish while your Dad was hauling them in. It's not often that you go fishing and come home with more tackle than you started with lol. Great to see you out again with your Dad and I have one question for you. You mentioned about maybe getting a boat so is it still on the cards?
@theawfulangler Жыл бұрын
Hi mate. Usually fishing on my own I'll have one rod at distance and one in short to cover the most possible ground. When out with my dad I let him cover the ground close in as I can cast further. Its a team sport right? 😂 A boat is still the target mate definitely. The agreement with Sarah is once I hit 10k subs. But at the same time, it will be funds dependent too.
@georgethackray1151 Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, thanks for another great video, I hope you've taken time off and enjoyed the Christmas break wit the family! I have a question regarding rods, I have just received an Akios Fury FX420 from Veals and just putting the rod together seems pretty tight at the two joints, is this standard and is there something you do to overcome this? I teamed this up with a Penn Spinfisher 7500lc which feels real quality! Looking forward to a break in the weather in the next week to try these out on the north Norfolk coast at either Weybourne or Cley Next the Sea. Thanks in advance, keep the great work up! Tight lines🎣
@theawfulangler Жыл бұрын
Thanks George. Yes, I've taken a bit of a break, thanks, hence the delayed reply. Personally id give the spigot a little rub with some wet/dry. You'd be better off contacting akios directly and seeing what they suggest. Their after sales is brilliant, and they will be able to advise you over the phone what the best thing to do is. Excellent rod/reel choice, though, perfect for your chosen coast line.
